sure if would be great for him if he was to beat Berto at a young age...but you also risk him getting destroyed and broken down physiologically especially if Berto was to dominate him
that wont happen because berto's boxing skills are pretty terrible for the level of fighter he is. only way i see berto beating alvarez is if saul fights a ****** fight, languishes on the inside and engages in a wrestling match. canelo doesnt fight that way though. he has an advanced knowledge of punching distance and u never see him falling in and smothering himself.

even on the inside its not a given that berto will be able to out-muscle alvarez. even though he's 20 y/o, it aint like saul is some skinny underdeveloped kid. hes already got his man muscles and is built like a tank. on fight night he looks like a re-hydrated junior middle. just look at his back, trunk and legs on fight night. kid is a HUGE welter.

saul takes this fairly easily. its pretty embarrassing the difference in skill level considering their difference in age and experience. berto should be ashamed of himself being such a brutal fighter.

Alvarez hasn't been tested though, you are pointing out stuff he does well against BAD competition, just because he does something well against a washed up Carlos Baldomir does not mean that he will be able to do that against other fighters, I know Berto is not very popular and a lot of people hate the guy but Berto has some skills and talent, he also has excellent hand speed and power...right now I think Berto beats the kid...it is too soon for him to jump in with Berto, not saying that Berto is unbeatable or anything like that, but I am sure his Camp and GBP will not do it regardless of what you or I think of his chances would be, sure his chances is good against Berto...but Berto chances is good as well especially against a very young untested fighter

idk part of me says alvarez is 2 young but the other half says the kid can probably beat berto. itll be tough. i like andre berto, hes ight. alvarez though caught my attention sat night. he ko'd the **** outta baldomir. i know the dude is a ultra washed up 40 yr old but canelo rocked his ****. berto would be dancing with the stars if he was 2 get hit with 1 of them punches.

i dont see it that way though. only advantage berto has in the fight is hand speed and that advantage is only sustained for part of the fight cuz berto has stamina problems. alot of those instances where he flashes that hand speed is a whole lot of sound and fury signifying nothing, then he gets tired and needs to hold.

you COULD argue that berto has the experience behind him, but what has berto learned from that experience? his skill level has gone backwards and it aint like hes learned to adapt or fight more intelligently. he looked ordinary vs collazo (some even felt collazo won). he looked ordinary vs urango and the ghost of carlos quintana. after viewing those fights all i got from berto is that holding has become an even bigger part of his arsenal. he got different looks, but he attacked them all the same. so what exactly did he learn?

as far as ring savvy and intelligence, those are definitely on saul's side...so i think the experience factor is pretty much nullified. getting different looks is important, but experience is only beneficial if a fighter shows that he has learned something and has shown improvement. berto has NOT shown improvement.

Wow, Alvarez is winning the poll...

I like Saul, but Berto is definitely too good for the young kid.

Call me crazy, or just emotional for Canelo right now, but I see him beating Berto.

The kid is not ready for Berto at this time. Hopefully Canelo's managers will give him more time than his fans. HE needs 4 -5 fights before you throw him to the lions.

                      What?

No how the hell would Cotto be more easier than Berto? First of all Berto is not ruining anybody. Cotto might ruined Alvarez right now but Berto won't. However, is too soon for Alvarez to fight somebody like Berto right now. He would lose but he won't get ruined by Berto.

lol @ Berto being too hungry.
