Why is Williams vs Martinez at a catchweight?

Dan Rafael says Williams demanded the catch weight. Is he trying to drain Martinez?

    it's ****** if that's true.

The only logic I can see is that williams weighed in at 157 pounds the first time they fought at middleweight.

But again it was at middleweight it's not like williams hasn't fought several times at MW already.

really makes no sense. I guess it's his way of trying to get an edge but Martinez is really a 154 pound fighter anyway so it's pointless.

No drain at all, Martinez can make 154 easy 157 piece of cake. Williams is an idiot.

Apparently, Williams wants to campaign at 147 again and wants to be as low as possible in the Martinez fight so that he can make the transition easier.

I heard the same thing... I wish PW would pick a weight class (154 is his best bet IMO) and conquer it if he's the great fighter that he says his is...

No question Paul's got unique skills but I still have my questions about him, mainly how he's being handled, but also his balance is a little suspect and he's not much of a puncher so if a fighter can get through that punishing jab (i.e. Margarito in the later rounds or move around him i.e. Quintana in the first fight) he is VERY beatable...

He NEEDS more rounds against top comp and a slickster like Serg offers just that challenge...

I'd like to see the winner fight Cintron in a put up or shut up bout, Kerm had controversial fights with both, now time to settle the score...

            This.....................

You forgot to add that hes nowhere near 160 right now because he was trying to get down to 147.

They both are so I guess it doesn't matter really whether they fight at 157 or at the full MW limit in this case.

he can't "DRAIN" Martinez when Martinez was just the 154 Champion before giving up that belt, fighting him at 147 would be "Draining Him" I think Martinez not having to fight at 160 benefits him the most

Cos Williams is trying to gain every conceivable advantage in the knowledge he's likely to take a beating.

He asked for the first fight at 160. Now Sergio is too big for him apparently.

How exactly do you drain a 154 pound champion at 157?
