Why does everyone Love the Red Headed Mexican?

Mexico loves him, Staples loves him, HBO loves him and I get a sense that NSB is starting to love him. I can't pinpoint it, what is it about Canelo that gives him that star appeal?

Because he's 100% Mexican, and he's Mexico's most valuable prospect at WW and beyond.

He doesn't have the if/and/or/buts that ODLH had with Mexican fans. Same thing with Vargas and Margarito. There are no problems with Chicanos rooting for Mexicans, but Mexicans don't root with the same fervor for Chicanos. For historical reference check out ODLH/Chávez I and II.

he has some de la hoya in him. oscar wasnt the greatest but for some reasons his fights was must see tv. guys liked him, girls loved him and he was a good boxer. same with alvarez.

how can you not like him, he has some serious pop and at a very young age. He can only get better....and I've heard from a few chicks that he is good looking, so that's going to attract a big female fanbase as well.

Because they overrate him and don't recognize the true talent that Mexico has like Abner Mares and Alfonzo Finito Lopez just because they fight in smaller divisions. I'm not saying the kid isn't gonna end up being good. But Jesus Christ. I'm not gonna wet my pants over a win no matter how brutal it was over a 40 year old Baldomir.

I'm imressed with his flooring of Baldomir, but i have yet to see him against top notch opponent and still think he has some flaws that can be expolited.

He's only 19 and has a HUGE upside. He's only gonna get better with age and experience and that's scary. He has very good skills for someone his age and has very good power. Also his defense is pretty good. I was very impressed at how he laid out Baldomir. I've never seen Baldomir ever hurt let alone put on his face like that. This dude is the real deal not like that hype Chavez Jr. Now he's a BUM. Canelo will DESTROY his bum ass.
