Comments Thread For: Tomas Rojas Decisions Kohei Kono, Wins WBC Title

In Saitama, Japan, former interim-champion Tomas Rojas (34-12-1, 23 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Kohei Kono (25-5, 9 KOs) to capture the vacant WBC super flyweight title in hostile territory. The title became vacant when Vic Darchinyan moved up to bantamweight to capture the IBO championship. Rojas was the better boxer and used his physical advantages to outbox the hometown fighter for most of the night. In the final around, Rojas was caught blind with a right hand and soon aftrer went dwon. He managed to survive until the final bell to hold onto his victory.
