my guess is, maybe Victor realizes that its an insult to carry his family's name on his back, since he was abandoned by both parents as a child, and he's been pissed off at his parents since.

He wanted his last name covered up because his Dad told him "you have my name" So a rebelious Ortiz covered it up with that blob of sh$t you see today.

It is due to the fact that it his faters last name. It is well documented that his parents abandoned him and his brother at a young age and as he started to make it in boxing, his dad tried coming back around and saying that he owed it all to him and that he carried his name. After that Victor wanted to cover it up, so that is what happened.

He said it in the 24/7 when he fought Floyd.
