That is just 2 different situation that you not taking into context on why the quit. One quit not cuz he wasn't tough or didn't have heart or that he was just getting beat up and and plain quit. No Duran was more of a mental thing more being a mental midget getting frustrated than it was aboutl the lack of heart and toughness. Ortiz is about the lack of heart and toughness. He shouldn't be taking this kind of punishment? He is too young to be getting hit like that?

The 2 scenarios are apples and oranges.

This was the highlight of the night for me. Glad to see him going for the kill again. Khan and Maidana will not be wanting any of him any time soon.

Lol this is why I like the kid besides his skills in the ring. He is just super chill and very casual outside the ring.

Ortiz knocked Maidaina down twice in the first round, let his gaurd down a was dropped at the end of the round.

Ok, he made a mistake in not wanting to fight on but really this mistake should be considered as Ortiz taking his health into consideration, what if he would have kept fighting? Would we have seen the Ortiz we saw last night? Maybe, but he would have taken more punishment leading to what more that likely would have been a loss anyway.
So people give up the bitterness of the Maidana fight, if the two were to fight again Ortiz would K.O. the guy. That should be clear to anyone who really pays attention to fighters and styles, once again Ortiz would K.O Maidana if they were to rematch. Honestly he was supposed to K.O him in the first fight but made a green mistake. A green mistake was all it was and people need to remember that Ortiz has never been a world champion so take it easy on him hes well on his way and called out Maidana last night...all other top 140 pounders are taken at the moment and the kid wants to exact revenge and prove to all yo nay-sayers that hes here that hes a solid fighter and here to stay.

I thought Vic looked good, it was good to see the fire back in his eyes. He looked so ordinary against Nate Campbell, even though Harris is no Nate - it was good to see Vic fight with some passion. After seeing last nights fight, I wouldn't mind seeing Ortiz vs Kahn. Ortiz vs Rios would be an awesome fight, although I think it would be too dangerous for Ortiz at this point though. Rios has that never die attitude and I think it would be similar to the Maidana fight.

Khan has it IMO he just doesn't have the chin, Alvarez the jury is still out but he showed a little bit in the Cotto fight. Ortiz plain and simple doesn't have it and going on a senior citizen tour that he has been on won't never improves something that IMO you could never learn anyways.

He could a trillion baby steps but he just doesn't have the heart nor toughness and I really don't think he ever will.
Lmao, HEART and TOUGHNESS r just words. Truthfully those to words merely represent MENTAL TOUGHNESS. Usually things that r MENTAL tend to be able to be learned.

What happened with Ortiz is the same thing that happened with Cotto against Margarito, he got the fight beat out of him. As u saw from the Pacquiao fight in which he was taking a similar (some would say worse) beating, Cotto chose not to take a knee, becuz there were whispers about that going around. Just like how there r whispers about that going around with Calderon.

The idea really is that Ortiz felt quitting was the smart thing to do in order to preserve his well being, which was the only thing on his mind. Now that he sees what happens (with the fans) when he quits, and how badly it will effect his career (and income) he'll have that in mind instead the next time he finds himself in a war and he'll weigh that with how much he trusts his physical ability to recover. And hopefully he chooses instead to fight on, or to administer his new defensive boxing skills. That's what is learned.

Just a bit of information. Baby steps and all that.

People do learn from shameful performances, some recover, some excell. You need to watch a good John Wayne movie, where the sheriff gives up and gets drunk. He finally gets his head right, admits his mistake, and cleans up the town. This was Vivian Harris though, so Ortiz still has a long way to go, Harris was damaged goods. You can do a lot of things, cry (The atomic bull), or pull the other guys pants down (Rafael Limon) or foul out (lots of guys), just don't quit.

IDK, if Ortiz keeps showing such impressive fight, he is possibly another fight Khan is going to duck.

I've heard a lot of stories about fighters who get knocked down once in a fight by a hard shot and they get up to win by KO, but when you ask them if they can remember anything after the first knock down, they remember nothing. They don't remember getting up and they don't remember winning by KO. Ortiz was saying the same exact thing after his fight with Maidana, that he didn't remember anything after the first round. In the training room he was apologizing to Danny Garcia because he thought he was knocked out in the first round. And he thought Max Kellerman was lying and making **** up when Max told him the crazy **** he was saying in the ring after he lost to Maidana. He didn't remember a single thing. The kid was too punch-drunk to take seriously.

Plus I think it's more than obvious he won't quit again. The next time he's getting bombed on you would have to be a complete idiot to think that Ortiz won't be thinking about the last time he got accused of quitting. lol I know for a fact that will be the only thing on his mind if he's getting bombed on again.

It's like dropping a baseball when you don't use both hands to catch it. Your coach humiliates the **** out of you in front of everyone to make sure you never forget to use both hands when catching a fly ball again. So if you really think Ortiz would quit again, especially after doing it in the spotlight...lol You'd have to be a dumb ass.

The only thing in question about Ortiz is his skills. His defensive skills specifically. If he's getting beat down again by non stop hay makers and can't find a defense to fall back on in order to recover he's going to take another serious loss. Only the next time he'll take the beating. I guarantee you that.

Yea people kill me with the " He quit once so that means he will quit again". How many times Cotto or Duran quit? Last time I checked it was one time. Vic will be ok he just has to follow the game plan that is laid out for him cause he cant be vicious against everyone.
