Decorated WWII hero who saved many of his men in the battle of Guadalcanal while being severely injured... to a heroin and morphine junkie who got hooked because of the pain cause by shrapnel... to getting himself help at a time where people with addictions were looked down upon far worse than today, to kicking his habit. Great story. Great man.
