While I can't deny this is great news and I'm excited about it I'm a bit disappointed it's a single elimination featuring just 4 fighters. It's a shame the super middleweight tournament has had so many issues.

Fight dates, locations, etc should have all been worked out before the tournament ever took place. I hope this tournament is all worked out like that.

How can they say that about a Bantamweight tournament that excludes the #1 Bantamweight (Montiel), the #2 Bantamweight (Moreno), and the #3 Bantamweight (Hasegawa)?

good fighters and great matchups. its good that these guys are willing to test themselves and faced the best in their divisions. I can't wait to see these fights, these guys are action fighters. good for showtime to showcase the batams...

mares will likely beat darchinyan
perez will beat agbeko (again)
mares should win a close decision against perez in the finals
perez should beat agbeko (again)

Cruiserweight

Wasn't there supposed to be a Cruiserweight tournament? I don't know if Showtime was supposed to be involved, but I remember there being talk of a Euro Cruiserweight tournament (including Cunningham, who is now European promoted). Best part was RING #1 and #2 were supposed to fight to make a new champion (Cunningham vs. Huck).

Anyone know what happened to that tournament?
