Puerto Rico also has a higher per capita income than almost all Latin American countries i.e. more resources to train and develop fighters. Talented Puerto Rican fighters like American fighters are usually discovered at a younger age and they tend to have better training from earlier in their career. They also tend to have a more clear path to the top and aren't forced to fight top opponents until later in their careers. That is not the case in alot of Latin American countries. Lastly there is two traditional major sports for Puerto Ricans, baseball and boxing and most resources seem to go that way. While in countries like Mexico and the Philippines there is few if any resources going towards programs for sport in general. I think the fundamental difference between Mexican and Puerto Rican fighters is the way they look at their champions. Puerto Ricans tend to prefer explosiveness and skills while Mexicans prefer mentally tough rugged fighters. It's a reflection of the societies, Mexico is more poor and has always been more of a working class socialistic society while Puerto Rico is more Artistic, capitalistic etc...
know what your talking about before u do, mexico is not more poor than porta rico, porta rico isnt even a country its a pet project of the united states, many pacyow comes from a much poorer country , it has nothing to do with anything, infact some of the best champs have come from poor nations. the difference is puerto rico is proud of theyre champions even when they lose like trinidad and cotta , and act as if they never lost and mexico tends to throw theyre champs under the bus when they lose , they dont like losers.mexico provides the united states with 20% of its oil, and has vast mineral and manufacturing.mexico government is corrupt, yes they have plenty of money but the people dnt get it its not distributed like it should be. what comes from puerto rico?? not crap. just a buncha smack talking loser cotto fans.mexico has boxers that are brawlers and many technical fighters as well, mexico fighters are more durable and the record backs that up. I respect puerto rican boxing they have good boxing but dont talk like yall are superior because you arent there isnt even any puerto rican representing in the top ranks at welter,or jr middle. cotta and cintron pffpfppfpffpffflosers! all this hatetoward jr is racial cuz yall aint got crap, yes jr isnt as talented as many , hes sloppy, but he has what it takes determination size chin and a willingness to learn, he will beat cotto , and I want to see apologies from all the morons on here after he loses again.to jr or cintron.

I am born and raised in Tayahua, Zacatecas Mexico. Got to the US when I was 16. My wife is Puerto Rican and I have spent quite some time there and yes Puerto Ricans do have a better standard of living in genera . There is more access to organized sports etc... I don't think either is better I just think there is a higher concentration of champions because they have more clear paths not because they're better.
