    Converted Southpaws????

How many right handers switched to southpaw???

Also what would be reason for it?? Is it injuries or trainers ideas to have the strong side forward for tactical advantage?? If so, doesnt that make the converted southpaw a one handed fighter???

The only cases I ever was aware of was supposedly,

Tyson being a natural lefty converted to Orthodox by D'Amato,

And Birmingham converting Wright to a Southpaw being a natural Righty.

So what is the advantage of that???

Doesnt that make you a one handed fighter due to the fact that the weaker side doesnt get worked as much as the fron/jab lead side???

Think Juanma and Ortiz are right handed guys converted to southpaws. Not positive though.

Wasn't Frankie Liles originally a right hander?

P.M. the Iceman and ask him. He's the pro trainer.

But I think it's more to do with just strategy in developing a style.

Tyson worked his way in with the jab being a bit smaller as a HW, Winky relied completely on his jab from the outside. That's what I think.

Chad Dawson is a right handed southpaw.

As Run said, Tyson was a lefty fighting orthodox.

                  Winky righty fighting southpaw.

                  Ward is a switch hitter.

I heard De La Hoya was originally a southpaw several times but I believe the TS was looking for fighters that were converted to southpaw not visa versa.
