If its a non-competitive stoppage like the first time out then he is no longer going to be considured an elite fighter. If he goes down late in a FOTY all out war against a Maidana I cant see it hurting his image too badly.

if it was another lesser opponent, Khan goes up in smoke
but he could be stopped by one of the JWW elite and be excused for it

Yeah. He's done if he's KO'd by Maidana. I'll take Khan by decision, but it wouldn't shock me to see him take a humiliating canvas nap. For me what it comes down here, is this :

Has Khan's move up in weight and improvement in the folks he chooses to surround him improved his chin?

One would think he's gonna' suck up at least one hard combo in this contest.

if a lesser fighter KOes him that would hurt his reputation, but maidana is elite. khan isnt exceptional, hes just has the skills.

He won an Olympic medal and has widespread exposure in Britain. The guy's a (relative) star in the UK, a household name. Even if he gets KO'd he'd still be popular. It would take a number of KO defeats to really dampen his popularity here and perhaps not even then as he'd still be a name like Audley Harrison is.

OK. You're probably right. I mean, you'd know being over there and stuff. Tell you this much....he may have a few hardcore fans but he'll never be an elite name to the rest of the world aka no big fights here in the US.
