Looking like Hopkins-Pascal will be a Showtime PPV

According to a source that will be un-named because it's a competing website.

When was the last time Showtime did a PPV?

damn a showtime PPV? it's been a long time can't remember the last one.

Hopefully they have it at a competitive cost, like $25

Vargas/Mayorga was their last PPV. This is utter bull**** by both networks. There is more PPV fights than there is regular network fights. HBO has 2 regular fights scheduled for the rest of the year, yet they have 3 supposed PPVS. Showtime is just as bad and has 1 good fight for the rest of this year. This has been the worst year in the sport and then the networks do this. I'm thinking about getting rid of both networks.

holy shit man calm down lol. The last time Showtime had a PPV was Vargas/Mayorga and you're going to cancel them because of hopkins/pascal?

Listen, you can streem the fight or not watch it. Showtime having 1 PPV every 3-5 years aint that bad.

Anyways, TS, can you tell us what the source is?

Why would you want Showtime to use their boxing budget on Hopkins-Pascal instead of Ward-Dirrell?

They have a set budget. We can't just expect them to air every fight. The reason so many of these type of fights go to PPV is because the HBO's and Showtimes of the world they are only going to buy a few fights, and they must not see the demand or have the budget for this one.

PPV are either fights everyone wants to see (Floyd or Manny) and the bigger fights that HBO and Showtime won't buy.

It's not the PPV that I'm royally pissed about. It's the fact that there is such a lack of fights. Summer is always slow but we hardly had any fights and as it stands now there is maybe 4 fights lined up for HBO and 1 good fight on Showtime. If these networks are going to stop showing boxing because there isn't enough of an audience I'm done and I certainly think it's a slap in the face to charge 20 dollars a month and show 1 fight a month that is worthwhile but also try to get 60 dollars additionally for a PPV.

You would want them to use their budget because Ward/Dirrell isn't happening. All the big names never get in the ring so why wait for fights or put money aside for a fight that isn't going to happen. I'm so disgusted by the sport this year and all the top fighter in it.

I don't think HBO & Showtime are to blame for the lackluster year we've had. There have been an unfortunate amount of canceled fights, people pulling out, and fights that were supposed to happen simply not for various reasons.

Then end of the year is looking good and I think 2011 is going to be a great year for boxing.
