    is boxing worth it?

hey, so I'm only 19 and i love boxing. The thing is though i had to take a break recently i felt i was just in to many gym wars in a row.. i counted 12 within a few month span of just brawls.. i cant help it I'm new and its just my style. I feel like i already have minor brain damage from this, but i love the sport so much and i am at a crossroad. Any retired boxers who have taken a few hits have any input if its worth it in the end?

if you think the gym wars are taking it out of you, pace yourself on how many you have and work on your defense..............

in the ring its fine, i have a great chin.. its just after when the brain damage sets in.. Like Ali didn't know he would have to deal with his problems until after so he was under the assumption it was for him. I haven't dealt with the full effects of taking all those blows to the head so I'm asking for someones opinion who has.

Yes its worth it just lessen your sparring try working on technique like defensive sparring .

dont make every sparring session an all out war youll hurt yourself that way

You know the odds to get brain damage during sparring? They're minimal. I'm not trying to offend you, but from your question, you do sound to bright. You should do some research on what you're talking about.

If your trainer has any experience and you ask him this question he'd get a nice chuckle out of it because it's naive to think that you already have minor brain damage from 12 gym wars.

Unless, you already had something wrong with you that blows to the head triggered, I'm certain that you don't have anything wrong with you.

The reason Ali has Parkinson's is not due to boxing, although it might have triggered it. Ali was letting himself get fat by not training for fights and eating punches from heavy punchers come fight time. He did that after 25-30+ years of sparring, over a hundred amateur fights, and over 50 professional fights.

Go to the doctor, get some X-rays and blood work done, and make sure there's not something wrong with you. If you're healthy and stay in shape, you can have all the ring wars you want for the next 20 years.
