In his era, well the obvious is Jones Jr who would have beaten Calzaghe I believe. Nevertheless, even with that loss Joe would of course still be ATG.

Funny how I thought of Jones as if Calzaghe had never fought him, that's how irrelevant that 2008 bout is to me lol

Is there any way I can look objective, with a Taylor avatar, mentioning that I thought Taylor won the rematch and drew the first fight?

They are fights that split people right down the line though. And I think whoever your favourite fighter is, you tend to move that way. I remember watching those fights before I was a Taylor fan and thinking they were so close and that Hopkins should get the benefit (in the first fight anyway).

Most recently, I think I watched them about a year ago, and I think yeah the first fight was a draw and Hopkins should have retained.

But for instance, we can watch the tape of what he did to Holmes.........that was beyond brutal. If he wasn't who he was, he would have been DQ'd.

        lol.
Holmes was a decent fighter, but he looked afraid in that fight or something, Hopkins must have got in his head at the pressers.

Yeah he was clearly mortified. You could see that in him on his way to the ring and especially during the fight, but then again he's human.

Bernard Hopkins is one of the most frightening athletes of all time.

think for Joe the fight wasnt irrelevant. it was one of his greatest and most important fights.
he moved up in weight and won in an impressive way. it makes him a pound for pound fighter, one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world that time.
he also knew it was time to retire cuz of 2 early knockdowns after he beat the best in his and the weightclass above. so business was over and he is one of the ATG with a "0" in his record. you cant say he never fought the best.

Hopkins and Calzaghe are two living legends. we should celebrate them.

He had and still does have the skills of an ATG fighter. I just think what makes the resume of Hops look bad is the fact that none of the marquee guys he beat went on to do anything meaningful besides Glen Johnson.

If Hopkins is an ATG, I'm Queen Elizabeth.

                    That guy is totally right.

Hopkins can improve his legacy a little bit by beating Pascal even though I think Pascal sucks. It's really too late for Hopkins to be able to improve his legacy a lot because 175 is a shit division and the tournament at 168 is still not only ongoing, but it's at a stand still constantly.
