Anthony peterson=prime example of what happens when you fight the wrong fight

I'm thinking this as well. It would have been a very hard fight for him had he run for 12 rounds.
Rios was just coming non stop and was very accurate with his shots. I loved the right uppercut, left hook combo he kept landing. You could also see Peterson's shots had no effect on Rios.
Peterson could have boxed more no doubt but it would have taken an incredible pace to move the way he needed to to keep Rios off of him.
It was pretty obvious when they were both on the inside that if the fight kept up at that pace Peterson would eventually get KTFO, Rios punches were just so much more effective.Comment

I felt the same way watching it. Actually I don't mind seeing HBO giving Anthony story. But, Rios was also highly rated undefeated LW prospect with an interesting story. Is like HBO were giving Peterson the push more so than Rios. I think HBO missed the boat there.Comment

it's funny how perceptions raise up on issues like this
for one
Rios was the smarter man in there even though Peterson was thought to be the one with more dimensions and smarts in there
Rios made the proper adjustments, such as cutting the ring off while Peterson didn't.
Rios listened to his coach while Peterson ignored everything Coach Barry was trying to tell him
ay notice how Rios went from a straight right to a almost hoor right to go around the high guard and pummel Peterson?
that right there is smarts
Also, as soon as I saw Rios' Everlast gear, you came to mind, did you design his attire, E?Comment

Rios has so much trouble in his background that HBO probably decided to leave it alone.Comment

Told my pops "dude better stop just standing there with his high guard, it is different when a fighter come around it with a hook"..."that is how jaws get broke"...
Then went on to explain to pops that Peterson has no head movement whatsoever...Comment

They aren't stubborn enough to stick to and execute a plan. Peterson felt determined to show how tough he is, and didn't want to be pushed back.
On top of that, he isn't in the type of shape required to move for twelve rounds with just his jab, and he isn't that type of fighter either. He isn't a 1 punch guy, when he throws, he throws combos. THATS how he was trained.
So even if he did move, he'd always end up planting his feet and throwing a 3-4 punch combo before trying to move again anyhow, and that will always spell danger for sitting in the pocket too long.
At the end of the day, don't blame him. Blame his trainer for asking him to do something he wasn't trained to do.Comment
