Gamboa just lacks the length to fight like that and make it look easy, he has great attributes but he is lacking in range (height/reach) so he has to put himself in danger to get off in most cases. Add to that he is aggressive so he really does not make taller guys give up their height.

Eventually that shit will haunt him against a rangy guy that has a really good jab but until then he should be straigh, but rangy guys with good jabs tends to be a lot of guys kryptonite.

Yeah, that was when they entered the arena and weighed on the HBO scales unofficially.

The IBF weighed them in the morning and Gamboa was probably under the required limit and Orlando was over.

The thing which annoiyed me was that it was a unification fight, and he just looked disintrested,he would throw a good punch which stunned his opponent and back up with his hands down rather then following up,he was fighting bored and in the proccess made me bored at times, how can i put it? he was fighting with a bad attitude

I think he needs to vacate those belts and take some time to be brought up right
he has way too may flaws at this point and will get trucked agaisnt the upper echelon

fighters are men...it's normal that in the heat of the fight they would rather engage than box.

I thought Gamboa won this fight pretty easily. Not saying he doesn't need work but I think he beats Juanma and some other guys just as easy.

He's got hundreds of fights in the amateurs. He's not changing now.

                  I agree with this.

I think we might disagree about some of the reasoning behind it though. To me, Gamboa leaves his chin up in the air, just waiting to be hit. He does not tuck his chin. It shouldn't be hard (for a world class opponent lol) to stick him with a good jab, nor to floor him with a left hook counter while he is flurrying. I really think his defense (chin up in the air while he flails away, sometimes with arm punches) and lack of technique is going to catch up with him. I don't think he can beat that really tall gentleman no one wants to fight. Juanma would probably knock him out as well.

It's a shame, because he has great handspeed and athleticism. The way I see it, he will never be very technically sound. He spent way too much time as an amateur, fighting stiffs while wearing headgear. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

No chance Jack? You just post to post alot of the times, I see. Rios was a tough customer and he fought great in close distance. However, had Peterson boxed him, he would have won the fight IMO. He got caught trying to trade and paid for it.
