I did give credit to Rios, he did his fight & it worked well for him..But it's also clear that from the get go(end of the 1st round on) Peterson's corner was on his a s s telling him to move, box & use the jab & not to stay in the pocket exchanging shots & yet Peterson was not listening..Peterson was comfortable landing his shots & Rios was taking them very well(he was never hurt)but at the same time Rios was landing his shots & they were doing damage(Peterson was feeling them) & by the time Peterson decided to listen to his corner & move & try to box, it was too late cause the body shots landed by Rios had taken their toll & Peterson wasn't able to do much except land low blows...So in this case it could be the fighters fault cause he didn't follow what they had worked on in the gym..

Calderón's case is diferent cause Calderón was boxing well the 1st few rounds & landing very clean, flush shots with both hands(Straight left & right hooks) but Calderón punches have NO POWER behind them & Segura was walking right threw them & landing his shots wich were clean & flush as well, but the difference was that Segura's shots have A LOT OF POWER..& Calderón wasn't able to handle that type of punishment..If Calderón had some pop in his punches, something like Cotto or "Coloradito" Solis(they have pop, but not devastating power, most of their KO's are by accumulation of punches) the out come of the fight might have been diferent...

I watched both fights, the sad thing is that gamboa is supposed to be a suoerstar, yet he hugged and fought dirty, peterson also gugged most of the time. Black boxers are a disgrace to the sport.

Are you blind?????? Gamboa was doing most of the hugging. The sad thing is that black boxers HUG even after they land a punch so they don´t get hit. That´s being a coward, they have no honor anyways. Blacks back in the day weren´t like that, I don´t know what happened to them.

You are right, the sad thing is that his best childhood friends were Mexican. By the way, did you notice he was also pushing Salido? If that Rican piece of crap comes to Mexico, I will throw a bottle to his head while he´s refereeing.

Props to Rios on his victory. I especially loved that he didn't complain once with those hellacious low blows. I can't wait to see his next fight, the man fights with heart which we don't see as much of anymore. His fight was 100 times more exciting than the Gamboa fight.
Max Kellerman was extremely annoying tonight. Why does he feel he has to be talking every second (ala Teddy Atlas) of the fight? What a tool - when he was done interviewing Peterson after the fight he says "Congratulations on a fun fight (WTF????), ummm while it lasted. Good luck." Congratulations?!? How retarted. And Anthony Peterson acted like a poor sport, especially during the interview. When Max asked him if the low blows were INTENTIONAL he said he would "have to go back and look at the tape." He has to look at the tape to see if he meant to throw low blows?? I call horsepucky.

Gamboa is either lazy or bored with his fights. He is so used to knocking guys out early, that when they don't get knocked out in the first few rounds he acts like he doesn't want to be there anymore. If he fights like that as he steps up in competition, the outcome will not be as good for him in the end.

On another note I bet Salido gives JuanMa allot of trouble if they fought.

yeah they told him to move and use jab,but rios pressure and body shots didn't allow him to...when u are a boxer it works most of the time when you face a guy who is just in front of you throwing ocassional punches, haymakers, right there a boxer can look awesome, but when it's a pressure fighter,he's not letting you think, you are constantly defending yourself from all kinds of punches, peterson has to throw punches to win fight, and that means to stand and throw,he has to because he's constantly being hit with all kinds of shots,,,,there is a big difference between a guy like rios and say rocky martinez, martinez is not a boxer,he stands there to trade, where rios the same but is also throwing punches non-stop,non-stop pressure and it's hard to keep up with that style, you would have to be in great condition to last the 12 rounds like that, just like segura did,he threw tons of punches and pressured, even calderon said that style prevented him from doing his fight...there are a lot of fighters who are come forward guys, but not all throw the amount of punches and pressure that way like rios does, only him and segura and margarito used to do that,i say used to because with garcia training him i noticed he stopped
