    Ring magazine ratings at 147:

    1.Floyd
    2.Pac
    3.Berto
    4.Mosley
    5.Cotto
    6.Clottey

Dude has wins over #5 and 6 and would likely be favored to beat #3 if not for the inactivity and plaster scandal. Also holds 2 wins over ring's #2 at 154.

he was in the top 5 at 147 even after his loss to Mosley. he came back and had an ok win at 154. generally your accomplishments at a lower weight class can carry up to the next weight.

plus Cintron and Cotto are top 10 at 154, and he has 3 wins over them.

although yea, he was off a long time and the win over whats his face wasnt(on its own) deserving of top 10 at 154, so I understand your point and wont really argue against it, because it makes sense.

but I still think even this diminished version of Margarito would beat most the top 10 guys at 154, and I think his success at 147(despite being gone for so long) still should carry him to at least being bottom top 10 at 154.

After watching him against Mosley and Garcia in succession, I'm not sure what he has left. Maybe a lot. Maybe nothing. I've said it before and I'll say it again: His fight against Garcia was eerily similar to Jose Luis Castillo's bout against Rolando Reyes.

I definitely agree that he has fallen over the last year or so. His fights with Cotto and Mosley were way too damaging, not to mention his entire career of eating up hard punches. they caught up to him, and the layoff certainly didnt help either.

I would still maintain he is still bottom top 10 at 154...even if he really is super shot I cant really name 10 guys that would beat him at 154, his workrate could still keep him in there even with his power and punch resistance much worse.

Just wondering where you ranked Mosley at the point he fought Floyd?

Castillo was still able to eek out wins after and climb to at least another title shot and top 10ranking in the 140lb division. Losing to pacquiao at this point may end his career but his performance will at least be a good gauge to see how he may have performed against other top 10 fighters in the 154lb division.

Who are the bottom guys at 154? I have no clue. I think therein lies the problem. I'd feel better if he had fought a top 20 guy at 154 instead of a top 100 guy. But we'll find out soon enough.

Last I heard the fight was supposed to be somewhere in the 150's but not at 154, correct? Now, I can understand those who were upset about Pac's previous bouts being at lower weight than what his opponents were used to fighting at, but hasn't Margarito fought the majority of his career at 147 lb? And before his last fight, against Robert Garcia, wasn't the last time he was at 154 against Daniel Santos back in 2004? Margarito is not fighting below a weight that he hasn't seen in years, he's fighting where he's spent an very large portion of his career and should be comfortable at the weight. If anything, I can't see any reason why after the weigh in he won't still be able to rehydrate into the high 150's or even 160 lb. Can someone clarify this issue for me? Thanks in advance.
It's more so with the opponent selection, like Martinez should be tackled instead.
