i will say i'm not surprised how Roy's career has been going lately because
he lacks basic fundamentals....Roy got by with absolute raw talent and dynamics in the ring....although his boxing intellect/IQ is very high he still lacks the basic fundamentals that are needed to be an absolute all around fighter....

Bernard Hopkins is a master of the basic fundamentals of boxing and that's why he's still around today as a strong contender/champion....not to mention he beat Roy in their re-match...

I think the more he loses the more he will want to step in the ring. If he called it a day after the first Tarver fight, in his mindset he'd probably feel fulfilled leaving on a high note.

Since the Tarver's fight he hasn't been able to go on a good run, he's had wins here and there but losses have been in between. In his head he'll stop when he has a decent string of victories.

      That's what I think anyway.

lol did u see that fight it wasnt hard to pick a winner going by scorecards but no one in their right mind would call bhop a winner after that fight

roy was so special because he didnt need a textbook style, he could always do whatever he wanted to in the ring

honestly panda wishes he never lost those fights but knowing he wouldve beaten the guys he lost to in his prime still makes him an ATG

You look at him at his best, whether it be playing with 44-0 James Toney, dominating WBA HW champion John Ruiz with ease, or knocking people out with his hands behind his back.

Can you imagine in 2/3 years time Mayweather losing via KO to former journyman, or being ko'd by overhyped ausse's?

Still shocking, i never fought i'd see roy jones jr with so many losses & ko's on his record back in 2002, if someone would of said it, am sure everyone would of burst out laughing.

            sad....................

It hurts to watch honestly, only because I know that all of the guys who beat him wouldn't have stood a chance with him back when he was in his prime, that's the thing though did Julio Cesar Chavez lose his legacy because he got stopped by Grover Wiley? honestly you can't take away what Roy Jones did in Boxing, he's clearly no longer the same guy and THAT'S the reason why he lost those fights, it was a visually mental and physical difference and we knew Roy just wasn't there..
It hasn't damaged his legacy, the people who saw him in his prime know the business, new boxing fans will do their home work. The only people who think he is a bum based on recent performances will not tell their kids about boxing 20 years from now.

On the actual topic, I can't really answer the question, when Roy was at his best I'd have been between 5 and 13, couldn't fully appreciate his skillset back then.

nah..i didn't watch the fight...i kept hearing how awful it was so i never bothered...lol...

Roy was very special and you are absolutely right that he didn't need a textbook style...but he does now....a text book style would have kept his a$$ from getting KO'd plus he didn't let his body recuperate properly after coming down from heavy....if he gave himself time to properly heal mentally and physically he would have been able to go out on top but Tarver had a lot to do with Roy's demise..I still root for him and would like for him to go out with a championship belt because I feel he deserves....he really is my favorite fighter on the low....lol.....but mayweather that's my dog right there...

                  Yeah he did

Not the same HGH needle injection **** that Toney, Vargas, and Mosley took... TRUE muscle building steroids.

Roy got caught for andro, something that you can buy in the mall... and came in energy drinks... but it was still banned by some of the boxing organizations..

In retrospect, we should have seen it coming. Guys who rely so much on athleticism and lack fundamentals will probably face that kind of fall once their athleticism goes.

At that time, hell no, could not see this coming.

as special as Roy was...I always knew there would come a day when he was gonna get caught.....I NEVER thought he could be beat by decision but I always felt like SOMEBODY was gonna touch his chin the right way....I don't really care where the so called experts place Roy in their history books.....in my book, which is MY LIFETIME......Roy is a TOP 3 all-time P4P fighter....my book takes CERTAIN things into consideration....so Roy will NEVER lose his spot in my book!!!
