katsidis has all the physical tools needed to be a great fighter but 2 things:

    1. a boxing brain. his trainer/best friend is hindering his progress.

    2. thicker skin (literally).

Me too. It will take Marquez time to get the timing right, but once he does he is stopping Katsidis.

I think it is closer to a FOTY candidate, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if marquez does a number on him. A year or 2 ago this was a big mismatch and certain ko loss for katsidis. But I think the aussie has got more experience now and marquez has clearly slowed down so it could be great, I still think marquez should win by tko, I think katsidis will get timed with shots...im looking between round 6-9 possibly on cuts but most likely tko.

Unless Kats finishes him before he "gets his timing right". If Diaz gave Marquez hell for 9 rounds...

Diaz is much better technically, and has a pretty good jab. A lack of technique against marquez even at the twilight of his career is a recipe for disaster. No one has stopped marquez yet and he has been in there with bigger punchers than katsidis so I think your being hopeful. I really like your boy and don't get me wrong I think he has a chance, but that chance relies on marquez hitting father time in this fight. I believe it will be competitive though because marquez has slowed down.

The Diaz that Marquez fought was no joke, and IMO better than Kats is right now.

That's primarily what Kats will be relying on, but even then it doesn't matter so much in the grand scheme of things - he's still getting a good payday, his first ever PPV main event slot, and big time worldwide exposure.

It's the pinnacle of his career, and even if he loses he'll have lost to one of the best in the biz. I'm just happy he's finally hitting the big time and facing a truly elite opponent. He's worked hard enough for it.

Ahh, now we're talking. If the Diaz who showed up in the first Marquez fight would've fought the Kats who showed up against Mitchell, I'm totally confident that Kats would've fucked him up badly.

And if the current version of Kats would've been in there against Marquez, he would've fucked him up too. The only reason Diaz lost to Marquez the first time is because he didn't have the power to finish him.

I'll continue to maintain that the only reason Kats lost to Diaz (i.e. got outboxed) was because he was majorly gunshy after the shock Casamayor gave him. He wasn't 'himself' in there.

I still wouldn't mind a Kats-Diaz rematch, just to wipe that slate clean and move on from it.

katsidis' size & youth will definitely play a big part in this...

having said that, JMM holds all the other advantages! specially the styles and the experience...

but at 37 years of age... idk...

hopefully JMM & erik morales wins so a fight between them can be made!

So, fellas - does Kats get full credit for beating an "old" 37 year-old Marquez who should, by rights, destroy the crude slugger?
