Cotto was not ruined after Marg. He wasn't the same but he was not ruined. A ruined fighter doesn't go up to a new weight and beats a legit title holder top 10 guy. So no Cotto was not ruined but Marg fought the better version. But, Pac win was still a great win also.
I notice the main speculation is that Cotto is damaged goods after the Margarito fight.
I mean, how can we assume that? Because he went to hell with Clottey? Who WOULDN'T go through hell with the awkward Clottey? (Besides Pacquiao). I don't really see the fight being any different if it were the Cotto pre-Margarito had fought Clottey. And plus, "ruined" Cotto had a huge nasty cut in his eye, and still won. Now that is impressive.
We really don't know what exactly goes on inside the minds of these elite level fighters. What if that loss to Marg actually made him better? Now if we're talking physically, yes maybe Cotto's scar tissue is more vulnerable to cuts and bruises now because of that beating by plaster (general opinion say Margarito most likely plastered Cotto).
I'm just saying, I don't think Cotto really got ruined after the Margarito beatdown. POSSIBLY after the Pacquiao fight, yes. Though he performed much better against Yuri Foreman than I expected.

As for the topic, if Marg plastered Cotto, then I choose Pacquiao based on even playing level, besides the 145 catchweight (which is 1 less pound than Cotto weighed in for the Clottey fight, not much of a difference IMO)
If Marg fought Cotto legally, then obviously Marg deserves more credit.
Cotto was impressive during that fight. Though too bad coz yuri was injured late. I still give props to cotto all out. A true boricuan warrior hands down. Someone that a blind mexican nuthugger should respect w/o being bias.
Yeah you're right that does'nt give cotto full credit. But would you blame roids as the culprit why cotto lost? Does'nt sreve cotto's warrior 's heart well, man. IMO cotto lost coz pac is just faster and mastered his in and out movement.
This is a really good question I would Instantly say Marg because as it was said earlier at the time Cotto was an Undefeated fighter and Looked very fomidable however there is a question On wheather Marg prehaps cheated and used plaster of paris In that fight, I doubt he did however we will in all probability If he did then Pac should get more credit but its Marg otherwise.
On the other hand marg is naturally able to deal with cotto in terms of natural weight and size ect, so pac beating him is more Impressive based on natural weight and height ect, although cotto was not the same fighter and was hammered by Marg, but of course it was held at a jokeweight err I mean catchweight
Marg got more credit because cotto was undefeated and it wasn't at a catchweight. Once he got caught with plaster alot of people, myself included, question whether he won that fight fairly.
