it's ok for u to think that marinez is the real mw champ, that's why boxing in america is dying and thats y the ufc is taking over because they're too many paper champs unlike in europe.

sturm is the real deal with the better resume.

martinez wants big money because he beat the bumm pavlik and he also lost to williams..he's not in the same league as sturm.

but u can keep on dreaming thats what american boxing is all about lol
Maybe you were watching a different fight but it was a competitive scrap with Lorenzo winning a fair amount of rounds.

I agree though, there are too many paper champs

that was in 2006 ..and castillejo record was 60-6

sturm beat him in the rematch by the way.

martinez lost to williams and never had the balls for a rematch again

And that is very untrue about "most" fighters being unable to recover after meeting their first defeat.

          Martinez overrated by his bandwagoners
many here didn't know of him before Williams fight
but he is good, just didn't have any big moments until his last few fights
he's been the best fighter at 154 for a while now
Forrest wanted no part of him before he was killed (RIP)
now he beat Pavlik, who everyone was sick of, so more people like him

If you've ever seen a Martinez interview Spain has claims on him actually.....

I don't disagree with the premise of the thread actually, but I think the perception is that Sturm is a guy who would rather take soft touches in Germany for big money than to test himself.

It wasn't always that way, but over the last 3+ years I can't remember a really meaningful fight he's been in.

Imo, Martinez beat Williams 8-4 and the Pavlik win was pretty solid so that puts him over Sturm in the "what have you done for me lately" category.

Martinez deserves a lot of props for sticking with it.

Lesser men would've crumbled to the floor like sniveling dogs after getting whooped by Margarito like that, but Martinez kept pushing and rebuilt himself like a real pro.

He's arguably the best late bloomer I've ever seen.
