Yes, that is how business works. Khan is in charge of the negotiations and holds all the cards. If House Maid ducks, he will be on an Argentinian undercard fighting for peanuts, while Khan can fight any old chump on HBO and still recieve the same pay cheque.

That's what Berto thought too,but that's not the way it works...Sooner or later HBO is going to want you to show improve just as fans want...If Con does not fight Maidana he won't be fighting a bum buddy..He will be fighting Ortiz or someone who can punch...It's time to show who he is,he has to clean up the mess that's already out there because of the Prescott lost...

        ^^ This.

HBO are trying to build Khan into an attraction over there. He's not at all in a position to fight "any old chump", or why else the cherrypicking of established names like Malignaggi and Marquez to build up Khan's US brand? People are getting way ahead of themselves on Amir's star status - one loss and his international campaign takes a huge dent.

He can fight name little guys or faded name guys for a while, but eventually he has to take the test if he wants to make it big.

          Dear WBA,

As you know I have faked a back injury and ducked both Khan and Bradley, Then I blamed it all on my handler who is fleecing me and taking all my money away, I then on your advice sacked him and took the wise words of the WBA vice-president who is the son of the president of the WBA to sack him and work for him instead. Now that the entire world knows that I have faked a back injury and blaming my old manager doesnt wash, I wish the WBA to come to my aid and help me secure 3x my largest pay day to date. I am the interim champion and have impressive wins over the hearless Ortiz, The unknown Gonzalez, The ordinary Cayo and the legendary Corely, I have a single loss on my record to Kotelnik, A man Khan outboxed every round and is a one-diamensional European fighter. Also im a huge star in the sport of boxing, Everyone in the US/EU and south American knows me and I even have a fan base in the ****** countries. For all these reasons I feel that as someone who has never been a world champion has only ever fought one world champion which I lost, I deserve another shot at the WBA world champion Khan for $1million, Also because i dont speak english, nor can i read or write, the contents of this letter have been written by my new handler who is ofcourse demanding more money than the last one. Simply put Im hispanic, Im poor, I lie, I duck and I demand a massive handout.

          Regards
          Marco Maidana

That's perfect. I want to see Khan vs Ortiz anyway. Ortiz has power, and he can actually box. But if Maidana wants to prevent that from happening, all he needs to do is sign the contract.

Which he is trying to do, but Maidana is holding the fight up. Khan has more to lose than Maidana, so he better sign the contract quick before Khan changes his mind.

If Khan loses he will lose his belt, his stardom, and future big fights.

If Maidana loses, he will probably end up what he was always destined to be...a tough contender/gate keeper.

LOL at the Kahn huggers thinking he can dictate what others get paid. Kahn is just bull****ting everyone into believing that he's trying to get this fight made.

We don't really know what's holding this thing up. Both sides have a story.
