Because like you said Khan is the star...An he is IMO prematurely so he has to make certain fights happen even if that means swallowing his pride and taking 900k instead of a mill...I always said the same about May with regards to Cotto and Marga's...People say he did'int take those fights because of Arum...But he was the star he could have made those fights happen and that's what everyone knows...Money won't build your legacy and make you great fighting the fights make you great...

Khan doesn't need to make fights happen because he is the star. Other fighters need to make fights happen with him. If they don't bring enough to the table then that's their problem. You can't expect Khan to take paycuts, when it is his contractual right to earn x amount every fight. It may not be right, but that is how boxing as a business works.

And Mayweather isn't a good example to use. He was in a much more developed stage of his career when he refused fight Cotto and Margarito, and he didn't even want to make the fights anyway, no matter what the purse splits were.

Khan is young and has offered Maidana the biggest payday of his career and a shot at the world title. He is not making crazy demands or flat out refusing the fight.

I think you make some great points in this post..But Maidana brings something to the table..He is Khan's Mandatory,Power which everyone wnats to know if Khan can handle..You also hit the nail on top of the head when you your self admitted May was in a much more developed stage when he did not fight those who fan's was screaming for him to fight...Khan is young and has been KO'd in 59 sec of the first rd which means he has questions that Maidana can help answer..Yes he is guaranteed x amount a fight but sometime when you are trying to make that leap to becoming a real star you have to bite the bullet and make a compromise for the greater good of your career..I don't think Khan is making crazy demands..I also think it's smart for Maidana to go into negotiation making crazy demands so they can meet somewhere in the middle..Maidana deserves to get good money for this fight he has earned it...Let me ask you do you think Khan should get more then Bradley if they both win their respective fights??
