Comments Thread For: Klitschko's Manager: Peter Fight Drew Better Than Povetkin

The manager of IBF/IBO/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, Bernd Boente, says he is very happy that Samuel Peter replaced Alexander Povetkin as the opponent for Saturday's clash in Frankfurt, Germany. After the IBF approved Klitschko's request to replace Povetkin with Peter, Boente claims that business picked up for the event and additional television networks approached them to purchase the rights to televise the fight. Povetkin was replaced when he defaulted on signing the bout agreement within the IBF's 15-day period following the official purse bid.

"joe strong", stop your hatred and negativity toward the Klitschkos.

No one is saying you have to like them, but you don't need to be so hateful. The constant negativity you post about them day after day is becoming more and more sickening. You come across as a loser who is jealous of their success.

So this fight will be seen in 110 countries! The K Bros obviously don't need Ross Greenburg and HBO.

I dont think he was saying ESPN is greater as in better, but its a fact that more people will be able to view the Klitschko's in the U.S. another positive thing is the day they are on is a huge college football day, tons of people clicking and changing channels. Your team might play at noon, but you are sitting down all day to watch football. A lot of Americans who maybe 1. dont buy HBO and 2. Would never click on HBO during a sports day, might tune in to this fight by accident or in commercials. It will be two whales wailing on eachother.

I wish ESPN would promote it some. Would put a commercial out there or mention it on their website. Klitschko's need fans and viewers more than money right now. So while Im sure the moneys less from ESPN, the potential to reach more people is greater.

Everybody in America loves winners. If you are a winner, they will love you. Wlad has a chance to smash Peter in the face, people will see 2 in shape fighters, one a former champion and one THE heavyweight champ and they might become more interested.

IMO Wlad/Peter II is a more interesting fight than Wlad/Povetkin.

The crappy thing about it is ESPN isn't showing it till Sunday afternoon. Like most Americans I watch the NFL on Sunday so I will have to DVR the fight and watch a few hours later. This isn't a problem for me but for a sports fan without a DVR, they probably will watch football instead and won't see the fight. I like that ESPN picked up the fight on their main network though, during football they usually show poker or darts(espn doesn't show nfl games on sunday), it's obvious that boxing is doing pretty solid numbers on their network.
