Note that Prescott showed Khan was vulnerable to the left hook, whereas maidana uses the right hand. Prescott is also relatively faster.

Khan has got to be careful to stay away from Maidana's big shot. But i think he can, and will out-box Maidana to a UD. May even grab a late stoppage.

We all know Maidana can **** though, so Khan has to stay focused. Makes for a good match-up.

            Khan Stoppage

This is an interesting fight and in my opinion ends in a mid to late Khan stoppage. Maidana's hype is built on him beating Ortiz who cannot be compared to Khan in this matchup; Maidana's best punch is his often looping right hand which Ortiz was wide open for due to his southpaw stance and aggressiveness/lack of head. Khan is faster, longer, more defensively minded (Ortiz is defensive now but wasn't then) and most importantly not a southpaw and won't be hit with right hands so easily. Ortiz was fighting offensively which played into Maidana's hands; Maidana's right was not that short most of the time and not all that fast, but Ortiz didn't see it because he himself was looking for offensive openings.

The important aspect to consider in this matchup is Maidana's offensively minded fighting style. In the Ortiz fight, Maidana came straight out throwing bombs and looked a little to tight to me. Being tense and overly offensive will mean he won't see Khan's shots coming as he will be preoccupied with knocking Khan out due to Khan's suspect chin. Khan on the other hand will know this and will be using his infinitely faster feet to stay away and snapping Maidana's head back with his powerful jab.

Maidana's punches aren't short enough or fast enough to counter Khan's accuracy and speed which is why he will get hit through the middle a lot. I believe that Khan will begin cautiously while peppering Maidana with stiff, accurate jabs. Maidana's tensed fighting style and aggressiveness will mean he will walk onto these shots and won't see them so he will get hurt more. During the middle rounds I think Maidana will have lost confidence and will be more cautious/conscious of Khan's accurate punches and his workrate will drop. At the same time, Khan will gain confidence and begin to flurry and land some powershots because Maidana's feet are slow, he doesn't move his head and has an open guard at times. I think Maidana will get consistently hurt and his face will be puffed up by around 6-7 and the ref will stop it or the corner will throw in the towel.

I know Khan's chin is a big question in this fight but I believe that Khan will see all of Maidana's punches and won't be hurt by them when he does get hit. When Khan has been hurt in the past it is because of his very offensive fighting style, which no longer applies. Not to mention Khan's chin may be better at 140!

I said in another thread that i think Maidana will come out of the traps fast hoping to catch Khan cold and get an early KO. I think he does come out quick hoping for the KO but will gas him self out and Khan will outbox him and maybe stop him late on.

People seem to overlook that. Roach said it himself that Amir didn't get KO'd because of his chin, he got KO'd because of his overly agressiveness.

i agree with you, maidana will come out looking for an early knockout and get careless, no way he survives the full 12 though....

Khan and Roach know his limitations and will work to minimise them by keeping Maidana at the end of his jab, something Ortiz should have done.
The whole point is,it's easier said then done...If Ortiz could have keep Maidana at the end of his jab he would have ya dig...
