Peter wants a million or more to fight wlad

according tm Maxboxing the fight is not a done deal, cause $900,000 may not be enough for peter, as well other issues need to be resolved

    http://www.maxboxing.com/Kim/Kim072605.asp

"Sources tell MaxBoxing that a big sticking point was the close to $900,000 that Peter was to receive for facing Klitschko. Peter's representatives were looking for a purse in the neighborhood of a million dollars."

I don't think Peter is a "million dollar baby" just yet. Once he proves himself against a contender like Wlad then he should command that amount. Besides, 900 grand is a big figure and much more than he's currently fighting for. Who else is gonna offer Peter that much?

pbds, you might have a good point on that one. Peter's team may be using the demand for "1 millioooon..dollars" as an excuse for not wanting to make this fight happen. IMO, I think it's time for Peter to step up against some formitable opposition to prove himself.

It is Peter who is trying to get out of this right now.

I talked to Manny Steward Friday, and while I know he would never say anything like "we don't want that fight, too dangerous", he DID say with much enthusiasm "I'd love that fight. We want that fight. We've accepted the fight and it's up to Peter's people."

                riz,

I am a producer at Sports 56 WHBQ in Memphis, and we have a boxing show at 10-11am CST on Fridays, co-hosted by Brian Young of Prize Fight Promotions. (Prize Fight has hosted the last two ESPN Tuesday Night Fights cards).

Brian is good friends with Manny, and we've had him on before so when I call him to get him on I try to pick his brain when I can. I tried to get the guys to ask him about Wlad-Peter on the air, but they didn't, so when the interview was over I quickly put Manny on hold and talked to him afterward. He's a really nice guy; I've never had a problem with getting him on, and he's always pleasant with no attitude.

Others in the business that have been a pleasure to deal with are Chris Byrd, Glen Johnson (not surprising), Antonio Tarver, Michael Buffer, Larry Merchant and Steve Albert. Roy Jones stood us up on an in-studio appearance but he does that to HBO, so I wasn't too offended.
