Weird how so many people hate Mayweather yet they'll take the time to even acknowledge his existence let alone post about the guy.

I'd like to see them too. Last I checked most philipinos don't speak english. So I'm curious to know how how most english speaking threads are run by them. It's also a very impoverished nation, where most do not even own a computer, much less access to one. But I guess some people think they taught themselves english and psycically communicated through an english speaking website.

The article is irrelevant to me simply because the term "racist" has been thrown around so loosely in this case. As I stated before;

Racism and stereotyping are two completely different items. Did Floyd go on a rant, sure.... was it racist no. I didn't know that "midget" describes filipinos because I've seen different races of little people. I've seen different races "cook sushi and rice" as well, not just filipinos.

I'm not stating that Floyd gets a free pass because of all the ignorant and purely racist comments made by anonymous users at all the different sites.... but if this is how you perceive Mayweather's seemingly lighthearted and carefree joke fest, listen to this:

First off, you sound like a decent poster so i apologize for the manner of my previous posts.

- You're right, racism and stereotypes are totally different. However, stereotyping while in itself is value-neutral, it is most easily employed for oftentimes unsavory, humor. Bottomline is that people hate to be bundled into stereotypes, even if it is not supposedly offensive, or not meant to be offensive.

Ex:
African-americans and fried chicken is supposedly not offensive, since a lot of non-blacks like fried chicken too much, and that liking fried chicken is not a bad thing. But the fact that it makes people assume that all blacks love fried chicken is a bit annoying if one were black and not into chicken.

Eating dog is another thing. Its an asian stereotype, but to keep on applying it to an individual who detests the slaughter of such an animal is downright insulting to said individual.

-Second, it is insulting if certain stereotypes were applied unto one person, who is clearly not part of the group that the stereotype is associated with.

ex:
Floyd calling Pacquiao yellow. Pacquiao, like most Filipinos are related to Malays, brown-skinned people, not mongoloids (yellow-skinned).

People expecting pinoys to act like what the popular notion of an asian is, with Floyd mumbling about sushi, something that people from the South-East Asian region do not do.
