Guys who would definitely have beaten Mayweather at 147:
Prime Oscar (old, semi-retired Oscar nearly pulled it off)Hearns
Leonard
Robinson
Basilio
Guys I suspected would have beaten him?
Forrest
Trinidad
Mosley
Pryor
Tzsyu
Duran
Quartey
Griffith
Gavilan
Armstrong
Margarito
I think Whitaker, Benitez and Locche would be strong underdogs but they fought similar styles to Mayweather defensively but lacked Floyd's offensive prowess.
Guys I would favor over him now?
PacquaioComment

I also want to put it out there that although Floyd is IMO a top 25 of the post war era fighter, it doesn't mean that he would "give any fighter their toughest fight". I suspect Robinson and Hearns would blast Floyd out in short order.Comment

I just wanted to sample a certain group of posters. I wanted to see who did the die hard Mayweathers fans feel could beat Mayweather. that was the purpose of this thread, Plain and Simple. I didnt want it to be flamed out I just wanted to see How a certain group of poster feel about this topic.
As for you selection of Fighters..
130: I agree unbeatable. Too Big, Too fast, Too much in this division.
135: Duran is an interesting story.. because how he behaved at 147 isnt how he behaved at 135. At 135, Floyd was more willing to go to war in this division. I am talking about Toe to Toe. However, He would box his ass off if his opponent did not press the issue quick..
So with Duran we have a Hard nosed, macho SOB, With incredible power. But how effective would he be against essentially another Sugar Ray Leonard @ 135 in Mayweather with better defense.. ???
But, JRO if you had to pick only 1 fighter and you had to bet your house on it... Who would it be? Just 1
Just 1? It is hard cuz there is a few that could do it. I am not going to count 154 since he only had a pit stop there. I don't think matching him against greats at 147 is fair to Floyd either sine he is not at his best at that weight.
He was at his best at 130 and I think unbeatable there. So I would go to 135 and chose Duran. I think Duran has a better chance than JCC has at 135/140 or that Pryor has at 140. My second choice would be Whitaker.
But, I am not going to name any 147 or higher fighters since it is not fair to Floyd. And, I don't think he could beat any true ATG WW at those weight-classes. He is just not at his best at those weights, he just not matter how much people try to spin it.
Oh... and maybe Napoles would of been interesting at 135/140.Comment

Lets get this straight, there is no point in time. When Oscar would of ever beat Floyd.
Even at 135/140 where Oscar was at his best at. Floyd would still work him over.Comment

I think I gave him 4 rounds myself, regardless of that, the fight was closely contested. Mayweather deserved the victory however he did struggle and every round was tight. Oscar wasn't as cooked as he was against Forbes and especially Pacqauio, but he had been semi-retired for years, was 35 years old, and still showed glimpses of the attributes of his youth that would have given Floyd fits.Comment
