That label comes from haters. Every fighter that faces floyd taks about how he hits harder then they thought. I'm not saying he has 1 pucnh ko power.

I wouldn't use caution. He set traps for ODH and ODH had to stop jabbing and throwing and protect himself. Once he did that there was no reason to throw a combo and leave yourself open when thats what your opponenet wants.

But the heart is where people would question Mayweather.
Second only to Ali! Thoughts like this come from people who don't know boxing to be honest. Resume wise, there are soooo many fighters better than Mayweather. If we are talking about head to head matchups, prime RJJ is the GOAT!

I wouldnt say Floyd cant throw combinations now, he does at times. He potshotted in some fights at the lower weights also.

Prime RJJ is the goat? And you bring up resumes? His is lacking somewhat also.

hard work and dedication comes with success. most successful fighters, if not all, have worked hard and are dedicated. like i said attitude also plays a major part. there are some fighters who have the natural ability and skills (like judah) but didn't fare well because he's lazy. when it comes to floyd, we really can't say that he's the most hardworking and dedicated that's why hee has develop more skills. his natural abilities is more of a safe bet for his success.

The issue is not RESUMÉ but skills. And to jump to conclusions about generalizing one's knowledge about boxing based on one's fanfare in Ali as the Greatest is reaching, at best, a generalization.

I've been a boxing fan since the early 70s, saw the Thrilla In Manila as a kid and practiced martial arts (Jeet Kune Do and Kali)...

I am not a pro boxer but to say I don't know anything about boxing because it didn't conform to your thinking is really generalizing. Obviously there are boxers who have better resumé than Floyd.

But skillswise, I think aside from Muhammad Ali....Floyd Jr. is bar none - the sharpest in pugilistic skills. But doesn't mean that he can't be beaten. Pacquiao can beat him, I think if he gets hit and let the floodgates open up with the barrage of combinations from different angles.

But generally speaking, he can outbox Pacquiao. Just don't let himself get hit because it's all over with Pacquiao being uber-talented in following-up lead hits with combinations.

Brick I don't know of any other way to get to floyds level. He wasn't born this good. He had to work to get here.

Although you are not doing this here, too many black athletes are not given credit for their hard work. Yes floyd has natural ability but the difference between winning and losing is the same for him as it is for everyone else. He works hard and is a master of his craft. Its not like he stepped in the ring the 1st time and knew how to throw and move.

Fair point but debateable. I think Jones' chin is wrongly labelled as glass because in his prime he took some flush shots and was never really hurt. Maybe cutting from heavyweight affected him. In a p4p matchup I would take Jones, I'm not sure even Floyd would adjust to Jones in time before losing via decision.

Most people would and I don't blame them one bit. I think RJJ may be better but the night floyd beat Corrales I'm thinking he beats anyone except Tyson (the night he beat Spinks).
