ummm...... no.People don't understand that the only true champ at 154 is Cotto. So unless you want to see Manny vs Pac 2, then I don't see why a vacant title is such a big deal....esp since every champ there has won it that way making this fight no different than fighting those guys.
However my beef is this catch weight. This is why I am having issues with Manny and this ridiculous move......especially when the same results will happen at 151 as it would at 154. I really wish someone would talk to Manny and inform him of how much backlash he will receive from this.
cotto is not a true 154 champ.
he's not even the top 3-4 at 154.
martinez , williams , angulo and one could say even cintron is above him.
hell i have no problem with anyone ranking dzindzurik and martirosiyan over him.Comment

The same way in the sense that they take the champ or the number 1 contender and match them against a champ at weight class either above or below 154.
That is one of the rules they have for making championship bouts. Honestly they were gonna do the same thing with Margarito. The plan was for him to fight Rhodes (the number 2 guy), Tony becomes champ and then push for a Pacquiao fight. I don't agree with this....but IMO this is kinda similar to what Oscar did. The WBC just came out and did it this time, instead of trying to trick people....lolComment

I meant true champ as in he is the only one to win the belt off of a champion.
Now I do agree that Martinez is the best fighter there, but he has never won a belt at 154 and was handed the title due to Vernon hurting his ribs and not being able to defend his belt after being in active.
Again those are the better fighters (Williams, Martinez and Angulo) but when I said Cotto is the true champ....he is the only one to win it the traditional way...which is beat a title holder, and not win via vacancy or being handed the title from stripping a champion.Comment
