Williams and PAC wouldn't be boxers. They would be fighters. Only one comes close to what the thread starter is talking about is cotto.

During this period what 'boxers' have their been for Floyd to face?

Only Pacquiao and Cotto come to mind, unless Williams comes down to 147.
I would call Mosley a slugger with speed.

Cotto can fit as a "boxer", but he never had the stamina to be a consistent "boxer".

manny is a boxer/puncher who falls more onto the puncher side.

Williams makes it his business to give up his height and not box tall in every fight. "Boxer", hell no!

Oscar fits the OP's description of "boxer" that tried to pressure Floyd the best, but Floyd was able to counter him forcing him to be inconsistent.

So if none of the above are classified 'boxers' in your eyes, what 'boxer' was out their for Floyd to face?

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. Maybe the original poster will have an answer for us.

I doubt very seriously Floyd would have any problems with a consistent boxer. You said Ray Leonard, Floyd might not have been able to beat him in a hypothetical match but Ray is a ATG very near the top. Certainly in the top 30. But as far as a consistent boxer now, do you really think there is a boxer that can match Floyd with handspeed and accuracy? Nobody in the world is going to OUTBOX Floyd. The only way I see him losing is if he fights a great PUNCHER and gets hurt early in the first 4 rounds. After round 4, any fight Floyd is in will be over.

At 147 and 154, someone who could constantly stay in Floyd's face and had the speed, athleticism, and combination punching like Leonard would give him hell, because Floyd is not the powerful,

combo throwing force he was at 135 and 130.

That's why I think Paul Williams would outwork and beat Floyd, is because he would just keep throwing no matter what Floyd did. We haven't seen Floyd have to fight and fight and fight for 12 rounds against an opponent who can do what Oscar did some rounds. Of course, other than Williams and Pacquiao no one really fits that mold.
              ...............Precisely!

Right now? probably not, but thats as much about how Boxing has regressed in terms elite talent.

The whole point of making the thread, was a just that id had a thought, not that i made it to bash him

So how about answering your own question.

                  Who could Floyd have fought?
