Let's Give Calderon Some Respect In This Thread

He doesn't get appreciated due to the weight class he fights in and he he doesn't get respect because of his usual fighting style. Coming into this fight, the general consensus was that Calderon wouldn't stand and trade with a bigger, harder hitting Segura, but he did.

He took a knee because he got hurt to the point where he couldnt continue anymore. A Fight Of The Year candidate doesn't consist of one fighter dominating a whole fight, it consists of two opponents going back and forth, constantly changing the momentum of the fight and thats what Calderon contributed to it. Instead of disrespecting him, give him props for giving the sport of a Boxing a BADLY needed FIGHT.

I appreciate him. I've loved seeing him fight in the past, and I'm sure I'll love watching him fight in the future. I'd consider his fight with Segura a strong fight of the year candidate (depending on what happens the rest of the year). We should appreciate all boxers regardless. They are the ones bashing each others brains out for our entertainment while we ***** on the sidelines.

if u want to thank someone for making this fight possible then it should be segura because he had to go to puerto rico and fight him with all the advantages against him (ring size, judges, etc).. just saying

calderon never fights outside of pr, or ny.

Yea, Calderon has been slipping, I wasn't the least big surprised he finally got chopped down against a much bigger guy.

Credit to both guys though. Segura came to fight and brought something out of Calderon we haven't seen in a long time.

Rounds 4 and 6 were round of the year candidates.

He didn't give us anything. If it was UP TO HIM, he would've ran all night like usual.

Unfortunately for him he didn't have his usual bum in front on him last night.

Segura deserves all the credit for making and taking the fight to him and proving once again that cuties ain't **** once they get matched up with a real killer.

Look at the size differential. Segura coming in face first wasnt too much of a concern against the light hitting Calderon, Segura is strong, its a wonder Calderon has schooled all of these bigger guys for this long.
