Calderon still could have won this fight had he just gotten off then tie his man up when Segura got close, but he didnt do that.

Segura did a great fight. He was all over Calderon. Calderon went toe to toe with Segura. and that was not very smart.

Shiiit... I tried to explain that yesterday and the e-tough guys here screamed to high hell I was full of it.

Just a reasonable, accurate observation and it takes nothing away from Giovanni.

It ended on a very deliberate frustration-headbutt IMO, which left Calderon with a hatchet-wound in his forehead, because Cazares couldn't handle Calderon making him look like a ****** for the previous 6 rounds.

Big Segura fan, though, so I couldn't be happier for last night. Calderon had a fine run and now it's Giovanni's time.

I think it has more to do with Giovanni not being anything like as similar to Cazares as most (including Calderon) seemed to think.

I threaded this. Those 'Cazares does everything Segura does only better' type analyses were always off-base.

Segura gives hell to any version of Calderon.

He tried that plenty in the fight.

Segura was just too much, wore him down.

Although, even after taking a beating in the 5th, Calderon showed his greatness in the 6th, defying anyone who thought he was done. That was fantastic. Anyone who says Calderon brought nothing to the fight doesn't know boxing.

Giovanni is the COOLEST guy in boxing right now, he deserves this so much.

The immediate gesture from Segura after Calderon took the full count and then the tribute paid to Calderon by Segura were the realest shows of sporting class I've seen in timeeeeee.
