WBA junior flyweight champion Giovanni Segura (25-1-1, 21KOs) of Mexico added the WBO title to his waist by knocking out previously undefeated Ivan Calderon (34-1-1, 6KOs) of Puerto Rico in the eight round at the Coliseo Mario 'Quijote' Morales in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Segura's power eventually slowed down the faster man and broke him down. He finally put Calderon down with a shot to the body in the eight round. Calderon took the full count. Calderon is/was a great boxer but there is a curse that comes with a lack of power. When a fighter is on you he has little fear of getting caught. He has little respect for your punch and there is little you can do to earn his respect. And when the scorecards are not in your favor, there will be no come from behind knockout. Fighters will out work you if you can't hurt them. Tough business to be in without power, but praise to Calderon for making it as far as he did without it!Comment
