It's anti-climactic. I'm going to cut off your oxygen, instead of knocking you out or using my skills to hit and not be hit.

You could win a fight by running up to a guy and just wrapping your arms around his neck. We learn nothing about how the fighters match up. Not really.

Whereas if you knock someone out right away, atleast you can say, well he found the shot. With chokes, yeah you found the opportunity to choke the guy out, but anybody can be put to sleep from a choke. Punches carry more variables.

I think it's crap, same with these armbars. You're not arresting the guy. You can pull his arm back, so what? It still doesn't answer questions about how fighters matchup.

Maybe I'm being too biasd about what entails an entertaining and decisive fight, but that's how I feel.

A choke, tap-out victory. I bet Toney felt like he wasn't even in a fight.

For the record, submission victories are ridiculous. It settles nothing. Yeah you can choke me...fine, what the hell does that prove?

That's why boxing stays on top.

I'm sure White made his money from the boxing fans tuning in tonight, but the entire card was garbage.

Tonight, I am proud to be a boxing fan. This garbage card reminds me why I love my sport.

I agree that fight was gay,....MMA is just a bunch of wrestlers who cant throw hands.

Funny thing is Toney is shot to ****....but even a SHOT Toney Ko's Couture in a boxing match...lol...Couture didnt even wanna stand toe to toe with a washed up, punch drunk James Toney....

        MMA is tough?..lol...

I know they did not box and if they did and Toney got his a$$ handed to him than I would have been impressed with Randy. But as it stands there was nothing impressive or surprising about Randy beating a fat out of shape James Toney at his own game. That is a Toney that should have retired from boxing years ago much less be out fighting his first fight in the UFC against a HOF fighter. To me this was little more than a circus act and Toney, as well as boxing, have nothing to be embarrassed about. The way I see it the ones who should be embarrassed are the fans who actually shelled out their hard earned money to watch this piece of crap side show act. And Dana White should also be embarrassed for promoting this garbage.

Starjammer, one, the headline wasn't my headline, but your analysis is way off. If a choke is nothing, then, well, escape from the choke. The whole point of mixed martial arts is that there are several variables, many things you can do in an attempt to win.

Toney came in thinking he only needed to do one thing. Couture showed him that there's more to MMA... he transitioned from boxing to wrestling to submissions.

Agree. Please people, no excuses for James Toney. Toney threw boxing under the bus in a huge televised event and made the sport look bad. He will NEVER get another big boxing match and will be essentially blackballed for doing this. The notion that the Klitschkos are "ducking" his fat ass is even more hilarious now. Toney was very quiet after this farce because even he knows it's all over for him. Stick a fork in James Toney: he is DONE. That was his last big payday.

Almost 50 years old Couture's chin is faaaaaaaaar from solid and his stand up skills are far from the other UFC HWs. Let alone Toney's.
