    The Theatre Of War

    SALAM,

just some self-promo for the youtube boxing channel I started today,

I should have a new piece up every month or so, added to this thread when they're ready,

feel free to comment here or on youtube, where you can also rate my output, friend me, subscribe, whatever,

upcoming features will include tributes to "G-Man" Gerald McClellan, Aaron Pryor and Edwin Valero,

but the first installment is my tribute to James Douglas' inspired performance against Mike Tyson in Tokyo 20 years ago,

this was made when my process was still very much in the raw - hopefully, future productions will be a little more technically polished,

hope you enjoy in some way, and many thanks for checking out the thread and video.

Beautiful stuff, my friend. So many YouTube Boxing vids consist a thumping rap beat over a fighters KO highlight reel (and don't get me wrong, I dig those sometimes too) but this excellent condensed a monumental event, and the background and context to it, into a small story and video.

Emotive stuff; linking the song, to Buster's tragic loss of his mother and driving that theme throughout the video.

I won't lie and say the picture of his mum popping up every few seconds, creeped me out a bit, but hey, the connection was there to be made.

Not bad for your first youtube upload. Get in lad.

'Creepy' is a compliment, man! For which I thank you muchly, as well as for your other kind words.

I was looking to extract every possible nuance of sensation and emotion from James' performance and the circumstances around it, the unsettling as much as the edifying, so your remark is an indicator that I did something right.

And in many ways, while it is primarily a tribute to James' greatest night, this video is as much a comment on Mike's motherlessness and pain as it is Douglas',

"I never saw my mother happy with me and proud of me for doing something. She only knew me as being a wild kid running the streets, coming home with new clothes that she knew I didn't pay for. I never got a chance to talk to her or know about her. Professionally, it has no effect, but it's crushing emotionally and personally."

          -Mike Tyson

I plan to make sort of a sister or sequel video to this one, but with the primary focus on Mike and with Ghostface Killah's 'Motherless Child' as the score.

          Again,

thank-you for watching and commenting, my friend.

I'll be honest...i had to stop watching it around the 1 minute point cuz my mom died a slow, painful death after many complications after a quintuple bypass surgery. It ****** watching her slowly decline in health and making many returns to 2.-3 day stays in the hospital.

But the general point i see here is a very nice tribute, and i like the music. Looks very well done, especially for your 1st utube vid. i never made one. This is my 6th gaming pc build, but i don't know hardly anything about web development or graphics software. ****, i never even use paint...lol.

But thanks for thinking of me to send your link to. Again, very nicely done! I wish you luck with your project, and it looks like a very good one.

Nice video. Maybe I'm a pansy but I like my boxing highlights as melodramatic as humanly possible.

My only criticism would be the picture of his mother repeatedly popping up during the fighting, it just kinda got in the way imo.
