Official Poll: Mayweather vs. Paul Williams.

If Paul got with a trainer who taught him balance and how to use his freakish attributes effectively, NO ONE from 147-160 could beat him. I'd still give him the edge against Floyd because of his southpaw lean and work-rate coupled with his size. But he can be hit easily and he has a very weak and ineffective corner.
If he got with a Freddie Roach or Emmanuel Steward, he would beat Floyd and anyone else in the neighborhood of light-middle easily.Comment

This is exactly how you can compare Williams, Mayweather. To give you guys an analogy....
If this was a video game, Williams would be a button-smasher.
You know the guy who presses a ton of buttons, and just overwhelms the person he is going against. He really isn't knowledgeable....he just presses whatever he can and hopes it works.
He goes on a streak until someone, an experienced gamer, figures him out and exposes him for not having true knowledge of the game.
In similar fashion, Williams mentality is to just throw and throw. Well what happens when he is slowed down and has to think out what he has to throw, and actually pick his shots? I think Cintron rounds 1-3 showed you all you need to know about Paul when he has to do the latter.

Both Quintana and Martinez were southpaws though... and Punisher waxed Quintana in under a round in the rematch. Floyd's people don't like him fighting southpaws and now you have a 6'2"ish southpaw who throws 100+ punches a round with a reach longer than most heavyweights.
That's a nightmare matchup for Floyd. The only hope he would have is to stay close and try to outthink Paul, which sounds easier than it is because he can **** inside, actually he prefers it- doesn't really use range and his reach, he's actually an in-fighter despite his height/lankiness.
Floyd will NEVER sign on to fight Williams.Comment

Williams would have to go into Floyd's terrirtory at 147 since Floyd has a bigger stock in boxing than Williams. Mayweather by boxing lesson.Comment

Watching Mayweather do his thing against De La Hoya at LMW was enough to convince me that Williams wouldn't trouble him too much. As has been mentioned before, the big guy doesn't use his hugely advantageous attributes effectively, and he doesn't jab enough - which is one thing that De La Hoya, when he decided to use it, gave Mayweather something to think about (and won himself some rounds in doing so).
And a good analogy it is. I like it. :thumb1:To give you guys an analogy....
