this is a good post of yoursthats what im saying..anyone who continues to train, dedicate themselves and fight ..win or lose deserves respect..the routine is grueling....i dont care if their record is 5-20.....it takes balls and hardwork to be a REAL fighter..
NOW IM NOT REFURING TO THE BUMS WHO THROW FIGHTS FOR A PAYCHECK OR WHO COME IN LOOKING LIKE THEY SLEPT THRU THE ENTIRE TRAINING CAMP..I MEAN REAL DEDICATED FIGHTERSComment

Sometimes it's frustrating to the fans when certain fighters hold out for more money...
But sometimes you really have to look at the situation.. some of these guys are on the brink of making million dollar checks... They want to make sure they get the best deal possible... because if they lose, or their career goes downhill after that fight... it may be their last big payday..
Us fans generally just care about the best fighting the best... but they also have to look out for their own lives, and their families lives..
Paul Williams actually comes to mind... people definitely get irritated about him holding out for more money... but this guy doesn't really get good paydays...
And, once he loses, or his career starts going downhill because of the punishment he takes in the ring... he is going to wish he held out for that extra million when he had the chance...Last edited by THE REED; 08-27-2010, 10:24 AM.Comment

Sad truth that I have a hard time accepting. Maidana is a perfect example of that, who is now facin' Corley...Sometimes it's frustrating to the fans when certain fighters hold out for more money...

Credit to Mike Tyson actually.
Think about it.
This guy is broke... his own words.
He has the option to fight Holyfield again... which people WOULD pay for and he WOULD earn about 10 million dollars for the fight.
But he realized he just doesn't have it in him... he's not going to take advantage of the sport, even if he's broke and the option is there..Comment

The business of boxing is so much sleazier than we really know. Or see on TV. Some of the posters don't realize that Glen Johnson makes like $10k when he fights in the main event on FNF on ESPN. You see Glenn 4 times on ESPN he doens't even make 50g's. Unbelievable.Sometimes it's frustrating to the fans when certain fighters hold out for more money...
