come out and admitt it effected them more or was more serious then they first said. and that they should of hung it up earlier. would you realy want to stand in front of a heavy hitter like froch again. even if your eye is 75%good. i bet kessler has more to say about his career then a lot of dumber boxers do.
hope it is like what you say. and he fully recovers.
I don't think he'll fight again without being 100% fit. I think there's even a real possibility that Kessler is finished.

Legacy-wise, Kessler absolutely made the right decision.

If he's got a written deal to get the winner of the Super 6 if he's ready to fight till June next year, Kessler also made the right decision business-wise...

From where do you have that? At the pressconference today Sauerland made it clear that he had a VERBAL agreement.

Come on BN, do you really think that Kessler is dumb - he seems pretty clever to me (I met him on 2 occasions).

Btw, looking back at Sauerland signing Kessler to a number (must be 4 to 5) of fights was pretty clever, too. Just think about it - if they would have signed him to a deal of 2-3 years, their investment would have been +/-0.

Now they can look forward and let him heal up properly and if he's able to return to the ring he'll do so for a big fight with serious cash on the line.

What I'm saying is that Kessler's manager might not have acted in Kessler's best interests. I don't blame Kessler himself. He should never be asked to take the decision to drop the belt since he was less than half a day away from the doctor giving him a serious diagnosis.

According to Kalle Sauerland he just 'informed Mikkel that he was to drop the title', really not giving him any options since that was just before the pressconference was about to start! Wtf?

It's clear that Sauerland, having a lot of money in the siupersix and AA, is interested in keeping the title in the tournament, but ditching the title can never be in Kessler's best interests and it's here that Kessler's manager should have protected him from his promotor who just gave a promise he might not be capable of fulfilling.

Kessler is a classy guy. He probably left the belt while feeling like He let the tour down. I hope He recovers well.

Oh yeah. He might have done the honourable thing, but that is not neccessarily in his best financial interest.

I heard that Kessler fired his manager, is this right?

I think He negotiated to fight the winner, but I'm not sure. If that's the case, then I think that was business savy. Why wait to loose the belt, when you can use it to negotiate now. Smart if that's the case.
