Dave tardo is such a pedantic whiney *****, kinda guy that writes into the radio times to complain. Wasn't it you that used to pull the Boxingscene journo's up for articles they post, articles you deemed were inflammatory towards Calzaghe.

Indeed it is precisely because of the BBC's reputation for journalistic integrity that I emailed Mike Costello about his failure to show the objectivity which the BBC is supposed to provide.

That said, the Guardian and BBC do show bias in opinion pieces, but those are clearly labelled as such, and that's very different from showing bias in a straight news reports, where they generally are very objective, this biased report from Mike Costello being a sad exception.

The reports linked to in my sig are straight news reports, or in some cases, straight interviews; they are not opinion pieces.

In any case, you should have mentioned that the report you refer to by Powell was written just after the Ruiz fight, well before Wlad offered Haye 50/50. Even Powell hasn't had the cheek to claim that the Klitschkos are running from Haye since then.
just because the guardian is suppose to be the new york times of the uk doesnt not render them incapable of being shamelessly biased. you dont think the new york times isnt? trust me, ive read enough guardian articles online & found out a long time ago they are about as neutral & objective as a boston sports writer. new york times or national enquirer, guardian or the daily mail, they are all the same. its 99% bullshiet. we just read it because we want to be entertained. ive actualy enjoyed jeff powell pieces. he's a great writer when writing about a neutral topic that doesnt involve a brit.

as for your links trying to prove that bernard hopkins & roy jones jr. WERE THE ONES THAT DUCKED CALZAGHE, claiming it was news reports or straight interviews, wel my gullible friend, those are opinion pieces. you think what happens inside an alleged boxing negotiation, that doesnt work out, then the parties get interviewed, ISNT A OPINION PIECE?

You're being ridiculous. I have never in my entire life claimed that anyone ever ducked Calzaghe. The idea is preposterous. That would be like accusing the Klitschkos of ducking Steve Cunningham or Marco Huck.

And stop trying to turn this into a Calzaghe thread. Start a thread of your own if you want to debate him.

Hbo's official website said it on Calzaghes bio aswell, and aren't they the ones paying these boxers? What would HBO have against Hopkins and Jones jr to write that on Calzaghe's bio?

you have used that link several times to defend calzaghe not fighting in america earlier & used that link several times to excuse calzaghe not fighting a prime roy jones jr. & hopkins.

all i know is calzghe spent his whole career fighting in a absolutely empty supermiddle division when a prime roy & prime bernard where 1 division above & below him. when roy & bernard were a combined 80 plus years old, then he fights them.

then retires from boxing when his career division just starts heating up with the super six fighters & lucian bute. disgusting.

calzghe deserves every criticism he gets.

What's that got to do with your ridiculous claim that I had claimed Jones and Hopkins were ducking him? They had no reason to fight him at that time. No one outside the UK had heard of him, and he wasn't in their weight class. For anyone to accuse them of ducking him is ridiculous. But that has nothing to do with whether Calzaghe made attempts to make the fights. He did, that's just a fact. But they had absolutely no reason to fight him back then, any more than Wlad Klitschko has any reason to fight Steve Cunningham now.

Still trying to hijack the thread? It's off topic. For the second time, if you want to keep talking about Calzaghe, please start your own thread.

I guess that's the only thing that makes the fight even semi-interesting, but I doubt it'll go beyond one round.

Audley reckoned he went three rounds with him in sparring so who knows. He's going to get well beaten, but it'll be good for the Hayemaker, plenty of publicity since they're two (relatively) big names here.
