Right because, Liston, Patterson, Lyle, Shavers, Frasier, Norton, Terrel, Foreman, and Larry Holmes would have all been brutally knocked out by Brewster, Sanders, and the other guy, whosee name I forget that started with a P.

I think if we sat down and looked at all those guys individual records we could probably find a few losses in there to less than special fighters.

For the record, Wlad was killing Brewster easily until the drugs kicked in and worked to destroy him, and Corrie Sanders was a sleeper.

That guy could've been an ATG if he actually cared about boxing.

I agree. In fact, I favor Wlad over everyone on that list sans Lewis and Foreman.

whatever - this is a guy who thinks Jersey Joe Walcott had a better heavyweight career, and should be rated higher than Lennox Lewis. I stopped taking him seriously back in 2002.

Ok, Wlad over the prime Ali who moved like a rabbit, and could land 10 punches before you thought of throwing one. The Ali who could fight at a grueling pase for 15 rounds and be unphased, against Wlad who gassed in a few rounds from Purrity and Brewster. Ali who has probably the geatest chin in HW history and great power, just not up to par with three of the hardest hitting HWs in history who fought in his time in Liston, Foreman, and Shavers. Yeah right.Ali would put shot and move with easejabbing at an immobile Haseem Rahman, and Sander (who knocked him otu regardless) is a lot different from jabbing at Ali who is P4P probebly the fastest boxer in history.

Also if you think Wlad would beat Larry Holmes then you need help.

lol I think this thread is a load of crap anyway. No disrespect to the thread starter. Who the heck has Wlad beaten that would make people think he'd have even the slightest chance against a guy like Cassius Clay? Muhammad Ali? MAAAAYBE. Foreman? Are you kidding me? You see how Wlad reacts when he gets hit. His reaction is less than positive. A guy like Tyson would slip under that jab, break down that body and take the head out at virtually the same time.

Wlad could take on the second tier of greats like Ingo, Patterson, Marciano, Charles and Walcott et al.

Ross Purrity, who Wlad fought when he was young, in his 12th fight in 12 months, weighing 30 lbs less than he does now. I suppose you count Berbick as a loss for Ali as well? I think Peter or Sanders would have destroyed back then, especially a patterson or Shavers.

Shavers was a cruiser bum beater, that is all. He lost in his prime to a fighter with a losing record, come on. Sanders would kill Shavers. Sanders hands and chin vs. Shavers, no contest, Shavers goes home from an early KO. This Shavers atg nonsense has got to stop. the guy was a mid level fighter. Yes, Ali robbed him, but that doesnt make him great. Yes, he beat Ken Norton in the 80's when he was way passed his prime...but thats it.

Heres how the "golden age" of heavyweights worked. Ali=the greatest. He struggled with Shavers, so Shavers was great. He struggled with Young, so Young was great. Shavers beats Young, so Shavers is very great. Doesnt matter if young weighed under 200 lbs and was 7-3 at the time. Shavers beats him so he is very great. When in all honesty, Ali just struggled a lot with mid level fighters.

Man I like Wlad, but when this whole oh, he could beat top five ATG stuff comes up I cringe. Sure he could be competitive, but win? No. I will take the proven guys who wouldn't use Purrity, Brewster and such as sparring partener let alone get flattened by them.
