There's no excuse for Angulo to do this. This kind of things is not good for boxing. Shame on you Angulo!

It's bull**** like this that's bringing down the sport. Because of HBO exposure of this clown he thinks he can get away with fighting bums and keep his cushy HBO spot.

I love how Dibella ****s on Angulo yet Berto turned down the biggest purse of his career against Mosley for the same reason.

        STFU Lou.

Actually, I don't think HBO likes to waste their money so I think his plan make back-fire if thats the case..
HBO guaranteed him a televised fight at 154 if he lost to Martinez. Even if Angulo lost, he was in a no lose situation.

It'd be great to get Angulo's reasoning for passing on this offer. There might be something else factoring into his decision. That said, I think his cred - as a warrior willing to accept stiff challenges - has been damaged badly.

He knew the score....get beatdown by La Maravilla and have his career in the crapper, not worth 750K

Man, I like to avoid pretending that I know what someone else is thinking... but maybe Angulo sees Martinez as a bigger, more skilled version of Cintron.

If there's a fall back clause in that offer for another televised fight at 154, then there's not a whole lot in terms of a downside here.

I really would like to hear his side (or has he issued a response other than the "I'm the draw in LA" and I missed it?).

                    Angulo is NOT serious!

Come on guys..stop making excuses for Angulo...He is simply not that good as he lost to cintron by a wide margin and can NOT box!!! He is scared to get that ass waxed by Martinez and faked moves! A guaranteed fight on HBO after he gets his ass kicked!! if a good deal as he gets paid twice and can argue that he moved up in weight (no one will jump on him for that!) and he has a 5% chance to pull an upset, which will net him a belt, more exposure and MORE money!! So he can only win even if he loses......What a FOOL!!

Exactly he actually might have made the right choice as far as his career goes. All of you who sit here and pop **** about Angulo would be the first ones to call him a bum and a hype job after he lost to Sergio and his career would have taken a huge hit. Honestly with fights against Alvarez Chavez Jr Cotto Kirkland all on the horizon this wont be Angulos only opportunity at a payday and a one sided loss might prevent those from happening. My only problem with Angulo is dont say you will fight anyone when you wont.
