At Nautica In The Flats in Cleveland, Ohio, heavyweight Nick Firtha (19-7-1, 8KOs) retained his NABA USA title and won the Ohio State title with a ten round majority decision over Mike Sheppard (15-11-1, 8KOs). The scores were 95-95, 97-93 and 97-93. There were several close rounds that could have went either way and Sheppard gave as good as he got with a strong right hand that Firtha in some spots. This was Firtha's first fight since June's two round TKO upset of once beaten Tony Grano.
