gbp makes money out of profits made from promoting pac fights. they don't make money out of pac's purse. i hope you think it that way but i doubt.

Basically the 25% is not comming directly off of Pacman.... Its comming off the money that is usally paid 100% to Arum.... Thus when Pacman fights Oscar take 25% of the money that Arum would usually take all of....

      Math 101... Simple Example
Lets Say fight a fight makes $100

      Arum Takes 25%- $25

Fighter "X" Takes 75% - $75 ( of this $75 fighter "X" Pays for trainer fees and other expenses

Now a fight That involves Pacman:

Arum Take 25%- $25. Now of that $25, Arum must give 25% of it to Oscar.
Thus, 25% of $25 dollars is $6.25, that will go to Oscar.

Pacman Take 75% - $75 (of this $75 Pacman Pays for trainer fees and other expenses)

People its never to late to go back to school....

      how about this

      Manny makes $100 dollars
      pays $30 dollars in taxes
pays Arum $27 dollar (promotional cut)
Pays GBP $25 dollars (promotional cut)
Pays Roach $10 dollars in training fees

This leave Manny with $8 dollars and that is before he pays for training expenses and other small fees. So if he made 25 million for a fight...he get, at most, 2million dollars...again this is before other fees such as training camp etc.

This isn't to crap on anyone but I'm just expanding on this to show it's not 25% from each fight.

Where is Manny Pacquiao's Money going?

Manny Pacquiao signed up a seven-fight contract with Golden Boy Promotions.

Pacquiao also agreed to a promotional contract with Top Rank, Bob Arum's company

The result of the double signing were lawsuits between the two.

Finally, with both companies drowning in legal bills, they reached a truce in June 2007 with the help of mediator Daniel Weinstein. Under the settlement, Top Rank, to which Pacquiao had pledged his loyalty, retained Pacquiao's promotional rights with Golden Boy receiving a small percentage of his contract.

Under terms of the settlement, bouts between Pacquiao and Golden Boy fighters will be co-promoted by the companies. If Pacquiao fights an opponent outside of Golden Boy's stable, Top Rank will promote the fight with Golden Boy being paid on the event.

I dont want to get into a flame war right now, but unless Arum completely misspoke he said Oscar gets 25% of the profit.

        Now ask yourself a question.

Why would Arum give Oscar his cut of the Money, when he can just give him a cut of Manny's Profits?

Pacquiao is legally tied into contract he can not do anything about it.
        He sign 2 promotional contracts.

Arum, pointed out that Golden Boy still has a piece of Pacquiao and will be entitled to 25 percent of the profits from Pacquiao’s side from the Margarito fight.

yeah arum's deal with oscar involves non of arum's money just pacquiao's.

i'm sure pacquiao is cool with that.

            oscar shares arum's cut.

if oscar was getting paid from pacquiao's end and not arum's WTF? does arum care so much then?

              i don't think so.

only when pac fights a gbp fighter i think. because if it's a golden boy fighter who is fighting pacquiao , golden boy officially co-promotes pacquiao 50/50 instead of just getting a cut.

no...if they have to put up 25% of the promotional expenses their take will be 25% of the gross revenue not just the net profit. but if you will analyze it the effect is just the same. 25% of gross revenue less 25% of promo expenses = 25% of profits.

None of us know the details on this one, because they kept the agreement of the settlement confidential.
So we can argue back and forth. But noone will be proven right unless one of the two companies talk details or we see the contracts...

And go off the information we do have.
So as for this thread, It is what it is.
It doesnt Matter what Pacquiao is cool with, he signed two contracts.

no one knows the details but it's common sense.

the deal was between arum and oscar. it involves arum's cut.

the contract he signed with golden boy is meaningless now. golden boy negotiated a deal with arum. that mean's the contract pac signed with arum is what matters.

the deal between golden boy and top rank deals with a split of the money top rank makes from their contract with pacquiao. nothing to do with the one he signed with gbp.

common sense. any idiot sees that.
