ugas looked extremely good, he has that gold medal talent, lets not forget he was a world amateur champ at age of 18Comment

Maybe you are up for the task?
I asked Cubano to make a thread briefly explaining the basics of all the good Cuban defectors (the ones with good amateur pedigrees)... but he said his English wasn't good enough.
I really like Cuban talent, so I'd like to know what I'm getting when I watch them.
So far, I like Rigondeaux, Gamboa, Lara and Solis.
I don't know what I think about Jhonson.
I haven't seen Barthelmy or Hernandez or any of the Irish defectors.
I dislike watching Despaigne.Comment

as far as talent goes without a doubt rigondeaux and gamboa are light years ahead of everyone else. solis used to be extremely talented by 50 pounds later he def doesnt look the same. lara was really a sleeper, when he defected noone really thought he was going to make much noise but once he started his pro career he surprised a lot of people and looks like he's improving by the day, he still has work to do. when he was with gamboa's trainer we did not see any progress at all and a lot of us where wrighting him off but ever since he teamed up with shields he seems to be heading in the right path.Maybe you are up for the task?

despainge is painful to watch i dont expect much from him other than maybe being a top 20 in the division.
hernandez, i got no clue who that is haha
barthelemy is a bum that gets ko'd and dominated by very mediocre talent and his career is not going anywhere he actually was signed to golden boy but got dropped
johnson has the despainge factor
ugas is extrmeely talented and young and will probably have a really good career he has extremely fast hands and great accuracy
gamboa of course is probably the one with the superstar factor in him
the most talented as far as skills go from head to toe without a doubt rigondeaux not even close, great footwork one of the best i ever seen, great counter and reflexes. steady defense, he has had issues with inactivity for the last 3 years but he willc ome along and i expect him to look much better now with shields on his corner.
as far as amateur credntials, most of them where the very best of their divisions when they where amateurs
rigondeaux was as invicible as it gets in the amateurs he never got anything less than gold in any international tournament, gamboa wasa star too the same goes for solis
lara and ugas were amateur champions. lara was favorite to win olympic gold but then defected uggas was also favored to win gold in the 08 olympics but got upset in the semifinalsLast edited by Cubanborn87; 08-19-2010, 10:05 PM.Comment

Rigondeaux seriously looks like a seasoned pro with the way he fights.
Hernandez is Yoan Pablo Hernandez... I think he is 19-1 in the cruiserweight division.
I hear he has a bad chin.Comment

oh yoan yes, yeah i also hear he has a glass chin. he looks like a decent boxer not much power or excitement, but i think he could have a pretty decent career but def not a top 3 in his divisionComment
