    American boxing fans

why is it that you dont have the same passion and commitment as other countries, most noticeably, Brits ?

Considering the money you have, the venues, the population. It baffles me why you can be completely out-sung and have you patriotism trounced by a tiny little island such as ours.

    Do you find it embarressing?

Serious Q, im not fishing here, but i genuinely dont get it. In my country we LOVE our sporting heros, and we back them no matter what the odds may be.

Think of all the athletes we have and you would understand why. Also, the US is very diverse and people from all paths of life live here but most of them support people from their old country.

Because there are a lot of Sport, entertainment, and of course money in the U.S. that American don't have to be die hard passionate on all of them yet able to sustain these people.

And yeah like Gekko said You would leave your country to live in mine ...really holds true...

                Now :wank: it...

With the availabilty of more well run sports with more well-known stars, boxing takes a back seat in America. You can't get a hardcore fan of NFL football or NBA basketball to understand why top athletes in boxing have the ability to duck each other and fight so infrequently.

The way you worded your question you were fishing, to say America lacks passion is trying to be insulting... and flat out wrong. When there is a big event here people come out, look at Manny doing 50k at Cowboys stadium against a virtual unknown. And when the big money fights happen in Las Vegas I don't care how many people come, they make a hell of a lot more money at the gate than fights in the UK do. If someone asked me the most passionate country for boxing or the country where the citizens support boxers the most I wouldn't have claimed it was the US... but I certainly wouldn't have said its the UK.

Well we have a lot to choose from. NFL is king then you have NBA, MLB, NHL and plus a lot of people have ties to colleges and college football is huge and college b-ball is big too. Just in my area we have the Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers, and Stars plus 3 universities.
