To say Hopkins was robbed is pretty ******. I, myself, had it scored 117-114 for Hopkins, because neither guy did anything for so many rounds, not enough to justify them winning rounds, at any rate. I favored Hopkins, not because I am a fan of his (though I am), but because I favor clean, effective punching, over active aggressiveness. I don't see why you'd score a fight for someone who throws more punches and keeps moving forward, but gets tagged with 10 shots square on the jaw every round, and only lands 15% of his punches. It's ****** to do that.
Like I said in another thread, this kind of reminds me of Toney - Jirov, where Jirov was clearly the busier fighter, but Toney landed the cleaner, more effective shots (and that was seen with the KD in 12). The only thing I thought Hopkins failed at was finishing Taylor off, which really cost him the fight. He most certainly had him hurt in 10, and 11, and could have put him down at least one time during those two incidences, however, he didn't, and I'm not quite sure why he didn't pursue him more.
I can also see similarities in Tarver - Johnson I. Again, Johnson kept Tarver backing up all night, but Tarver was countering him beautifully all night long. While Hopkins didn't do this the whole fight as Tarver did, I felt he did enough of it to win the fight.
