If Chavez has a Good chin and can throw as many punches as Margarito did then I can see him beating Cotto. But if Cotto fights at a comfortable pace and goes to the body then he will embarrass Chavez and show the world that Chav is no where near his Father was.

But it's great that he's stepping up in his competition, the kid has iron balls to fight Cotto.

I agree. IMO the key to this fight will be the chin factor on Chavez and the hability to take Cotto's body punching. Lots of people are seeing a beat down or KO from Cotto, but WHAT IF Chavez can prove that he can take Cotto's power. Let's keep in mind that Chavez has been facing 154 and 160 fighter in the last 2 years and has been taking hitsfrom heavier fighters than Cotto who has just now moved up to 154.

True that none of those fighters that JCCJ has faced are as good as Cotto but fighting against 160 lbers can give you an advantage to be able to take Cotto's power.

Let's also keep in mind that any regular fighter with a 5" height advantage and a 6" reach avantage will present problems to his opponent and I'm pretty sure that Roach will train JCCJ to take the most advantage possible out of that.

I believe Cotto's experience and skills will bring him the victory and I will always be on his side, but if Chavez can take Cotto's power, the fight will be way much closer than people think.

One thing is for sure there will be fireworks on this fight and those who have said that this fight should not be made will actually enjoy it!!!!

If this fight last more than 9 rounds, it might turn out to be th Fight of the Year!!!!

chavez jr does have a good chin although his balance needs improvment the guy maybe a margarito but with skills he is a boxer trying to be a brawler.dont get me wrong i like cotto specially after that briliant 2007 but cotto has always had weaknesses his CHIN i hate to say it but its true back when he was 140 the guy was exposed by fighters who were not devastading punchers and at 147 he was also exposed against judah early and has to delivery 2 LOW BLOWS in order to slow zab down.cotto cant handle presure he will do good against guys who try to box but guys that will come and fight him toe-toe he has serious problems go check him out carefully on youtube the guy is very beatable i hate to say it because i really like the way he fights but his CHIN and resistance has been exposed MANY times.

You are probably right but Chavez's height and reach >>>>>>Margarito and that will be uncomfortable to Cotto who did outbox Margarito for the majority of their fight. Margarito does have a good chin but if Chavez has a chin and body, good enough, to at least take Cotto's power, it will be a closer fight than expected.

Hey Ksan, lots of people here have criticized JCCJ for not taking tougher opponent in his career but know that he is willing to step it up, he still recieves criticism.

I still believe Cotto will win but Chavez has nothing to lose here. If he puts up a good fight, even in defeat his value won't be hurt and pending on how if loses (if he does) he ca gain lots of respect that he seems not to have from some of his Mexican people and the boxing media in general. Not to mention that his value will skyrocket if hr beats Cotto.
