maybe if dawson had fake retired or took a vacation instead of fighting the dangerous pascal he would still be on course to be an all time great like a certain boxer.

He fights guys like JMM and Mosley at age 38 (a legit win but not a prime Mosley) and retires every other year once a big fight is being talked about. He retired when DLH wanted to rematch and the first fight between the 2 was pretty close. I think Floyd got pushed a little too much in that match and did not wish to entertain the idea of doing it again.
He used the p4p status thing to claim that beating Marquez was a legit fight....I mean come on. Marquez calls him out and he says sure let's do this thing...and Marquez was slow as dirt and weak as heck at 144. Floyd gets to claim he easily beat the #2p4p guy though and it looks good on paper.
Now the Pac thing and he hints at taking another year off to avoid this fight too. Now King is saying that he isn't attempting to set up a fight between the 2 guys.....I mean what is this stuff?
SRR fought anyone and everyone and fought at least 6 times a year, sometimes far more than that. Ali took on the biggest challenges and granted rematches in some of his toughest fights to prove he could do it again or avenge a loss.
A young Floyd was a wonderful thing to watch, so much pride and passion in the ring....fearless. Now, Floyd is so dang scared to get a little loss on his record because he knows that so many people hate him out there due to his persona that once he loses, the mystique is gonna be gone. Who wants to see a loudmouth that claims to be the best alltime once they lose? It makes him look like he is just all talk and when it came time to face a serious threat, he fell short.
Floyd makes up new rules to "save the sport" but none of that drama or extra rule stuff came into play before this fight was trying to be made. If he is that good and beating Pac is so easy, just make it happen, collect a check, and leave the ring unbeaten. When people look back at his career, the retirements, drama, and trashtalk are gonna be what sticks out in people's minds more than the victories of a 20 something rising star.Comment

No doubt and that is the frustrating thing with Floyd. If Floyd just tested himself a bit more he could go down as a legend. He is one of the most gifted fighters of all time and could easily cement himself in the top 10 of all time if he just did a bit more in his career.Comment

Floyd calls out Mosley twice while they're in their primes -- Shane claims his tooth hurts and some other excuse -- people say Floyd ducked Mosley -- Floyd moves on -- Shane comes calling cause he's broke -- Floyd tells him to F off -- people say Floyd's ducking him and is scared -- Floyd agrees to fight him, people say Floyd's lying he won't risk his '0' -- people say Shane will knock him out -- Floyd beats the crap out of him -- now people say Shane was old to begin with.
